Today's #WildWalkPrompt prompt was #Beak.

I present another #writing experiment:

an acrostic with some #Waltmarie flair, and of course some tongue-twisting fun.

What do you think?

Brazen blackbird breaks the dawn,
*bold in flight, it bluffs the lawn.*

Echoes stir the sleepy leaves,
*each note snaps, the morning heaves.*

Air spins wild beneath its wing,
*aims to startle, dives to sing.*

Keeps the sky from growing tame,
*clever bird, it plays the game*.

For day 9 #spacetober_challenge nebula: Caroline Herschel (1750 – 1848) a trail blazing woman in #astronomy. 🧪🐡👩🏼‍🔬🔭 #histsci Hers was a real life Cinderella story, where rather than marrying a prince, she made a life & career for herself. Marriage her expected role but she was deemed unmarriageable, 🧵

Eloise, my 9 year old toad, changes colour with the season. Today she's wearing her best autumn colours. Toads alter their skin colour using pigment-containing cells that expand or contract in response to temperature and light. Soon she'll turn dark brown as the nights get cold.

A stimulating day/night at the #Durham #book festival, an eclectic 3 day event that welcomes all to participate in an exchange of ideas. Given what has happened in the county, however, there is fear for #arts & #culture in a place that has been home to an #international population for so many years
Durham cathedral by night (📸 tonight). Although there is no evidence of a formal scriptorium in the cathedral environs, it is highly likely that the cloister was used for manuscript production as well as for meditation. Centuries of literacy, art, education, reflection and connection stand to be devalued by the barbarians, symbolised by the limp, nylon tat they're stringing up by the roundabouts

Reskeet with a #frog to scare ICE

Detail from 'the Frog Prince' Jessie Marion King (1913)
A frog sits on a rock with a lake, crags birch trees and golden flowers behind him. What looks like a halo shines around him (and is reflected by the circular, bright light around his princess on the part of the picture not depicted here)

The woods smell amazing as the mist recedes: astringent, herbal, smoky. At the risk of sounding all wellness-woo, it feels as if I were inhaling pure mental health molecules.
