I never really intended to become a “Hazbin defender” or whatever. I just looked around and went “Y’know maybe uncritically demonizing of one of the most unabashedly queer pieces of media being made in the middle of a growing facist hellscape for meme fodder is bad actually.”

The amount of comments I’ve gotten on my Angel video that say “This made me realize I don’t hate the show! I was just told to by everyone and I actually like it!” Is like. Validating. But also. Soooooooo fucking depressing
Their inability to understand a show that isn't exactly the most deepest thing on planet earth is quite astonishing tbh.

I've never seen so many people before put out takes that really don't feel all that well thought out. Especially when you consider how contradictory some of them are.
And they think for some reason we simply just won't listen to them and we're all just mindless glazers.

When the reality is, we've listened to what they have been saying and have decided their not worth engaging with.
Where do they get that impression? Because they bicker sometimes? LOL

Please tell me Hellaverse critics aren't this bad at reading people, right?
People really want this show to be some mindless junkfood that just handwaves to you on how you're supposed to feel about its world and characters with a simplistic, easy to follow morality and philosophy that doesn't ask it's audience to think.
Man I do not like these designs lol.

So glad they got changed
You see this mentality with the Steven Universe pilot too.

They really wanted Steven to be this edgy kid who just makes snarky roasts and what not.

That kind of character I feel wouldn't work with the show and it wouldn't of gotten the love and admiration people still have for it now.
That's my issue with modern media critics. They don't look for things that are genuinely wrong or is half-assed.

Their just looking for things to bitch about.
Don't worry, they'll just have a brand new excuse by the time they get confronted about this.
That last part is a lame-ass new-age tactic I see alot of these modern media critics using.

They accuse something of lacking depth but when said depth is present, they completely strip it down to it's bare essentials and say "yep this is totally what the author intended"

I fucking hate it so much
Also what we see may not be scary and intimidating to us, but it may be to the characters in the show.

I mean, just look at Orphan Time when Loona revealed her true self to Mr. Wriggler.

She may be pretty to the audience, but she probably looked absolutely horrifying to that guy.
I don't see why people would get hung up over that. This isn't a horror show, it's not trying to be super scary.

People just do not value substance at all these days. Everything is always about vibes and aesthetics.
"Constructive Criticism" nowadays is just shitting out buzzwords you learnt from TVTropes without regarding on whether or not it even actually fits the contents of what you're criticizing.

It is fucking WILD to still hear republicans talk about how the system is rigged against them??? In THIS day and age???

It’s useless to make sense of their logic at this point, but they still have to cling to the disparaged populist rhetoric because that’s the only message they have now.

Alternatively they’re signaling resentment that winning the election did not immediately win them the cultural zeitgeist.
Unrelated but I saw a review of the THPS 3+4 remaster and it was just straight up repackaged right wing rhetoric.

And the worst part? It's the first thing that pops up when you look up the game on YouTube.

That website is just straight up pushing their agenda willingly at this point.
Hellaverse critics and anti-woke cult members live and die by a single mantra: say something over and over again and it will eventually become true.

Right?
This series is supposed to be dead btw (according to them)
They say it's "black and white" yet get frustrated when the show questions the status quo of what we know about hell and demonology.

It seems Hellaverse critics just throw whatever at the wall, even if it's completely contradictory.

People call the show simplistic but get stuck on the relatively basic concept of questioning long-held dogmas because they cling to the punitive biases of Christian culture; you can't really be progressive if you won't root against the mass-murderers just because you think the targets deserve it.

Hey so imma cross out dudes name but this what I mean when I say I can understand why creatives don’t like coming on the internet or engaging with randos because of stuff like this. I’m still going to be here because I support projects I’m on and will always wish the best for the teams and community

I think a lot of the criticisms of Helluva Boss’s writing comes from people taking everything at face value.

They assume every characters words and actions are a perfect encapsulation of the truth. When in reality every character is an unreliable narrator and the story is a lot more nuanced.
I once came across a guy who thought Blitzo throwing up and him crying after seeing an old family photo was from the same episode.

It really shows how these "critics" kind of just force out think pieces without putting too much thought into it.
