Update on this, as today we got confirmation from Phantom's NPC that Cate is Meowscles' cousin.
It was actually a simple change, now Cate gets to spend a lot of time with her cousins so people mistake her for another sister.

Phantom Meowscles is an NPC on the island once again, and can be found on Foxy Floodgate. His presence is very important for the #FurryFortnite lore: He has a special interaction with Cate Meowdy confirming she's the cousing of Meowscles! (the one from this reality at least).

this is just based on how it works within the universe of my drawings and my personal headcanons; everyone can have their own interpretation of the actual canon.
The only thing that might change is if Cate's relationship with Meowscles and Meow Skulls is ever confirmed.
