It’s just my very limited opinion that opening night should be saved for the nailed down production. It’s more my issue than anything.

I’ve seen some productions that never should have gotten past preview. Most of my involvement has been in local little theater shows; back stage to front. Have enjoyed Broadway shows on more than one occasion. I guess that’s why I was puzzled about the whole opening night tag.

Wasn’t aware that that was the way “Opening night” worked. I know there are off Broadway production previews where they work out the knots and kinks then if all goes well from there the show opens on Broadway.

Just like on Broadway and the West End, there is a week or so of “previews” where they perform the show for an audience to gauge what needs to be tweaked prior to the official opening night. 😊

Lovely review Danielle. Back in the day we studied McBeth in senior English class; memorizing a lot of it. Your experience with seeing both nights sounds amazing. No doubt Sam’s adrenalin was spiking as I’m sure the pressure was on. Let’s hope he can relax into his role and enjoy the run.

He was sweet about taking selfies but got distracted by the billions of people talking to him lol but here’s pics of us in the same photo smiling! He’s such a sweetheart. What a gem.

So opening night is more of a dress rehearsal than a serious performance? How does that work? Sounds like an entirely different kind of theater than I was ever associated with. Glad to read they got the bugs ironed out so Sam could relax into his role.

As for the performances: absolutely STUNNING. Truly, all bias aside, Sam and Lia were both phenomenal in their roles, and (as with everyone) hugely improved the second night. For those unacquainted with Shakespearean tragedy, this is a gory, emotional, and at times really disturbing story of a man’s
