[October 15th, 1945] Pierre Laval, a French traitor, attempted suicide with poison before his execution. Doctors revived him, and he was later shot by a firing squad in Fresnes Prison, Fresnes, France, shouting "Vive la France" as his last words. He was 62.

[October 15th, 1945] Eoin MacNeill, 78, founder of the Irish Volunteers and a key figure in the 1916 independence uprising, died in Dublin. He served as a Dail member from 1921 to 1927 and was dean of the history faculty at the National University of Ireland.

It’s been a while since I've seen him, so I'm really looking forward to the trip. I've never been out West or to a different timezone before, so it should be interesting to see the desert and the warm weather for a change.
