Today, the current administration announced a “liberation day” against DC crime, a broad overreach that hides the real crime: the Big Ugly Law. Defunding local systems while testing the waters only exacerbates wealth inequality and crime. Stay vigilant and active.
I’m grateful that @davidaxellrod.bsky.social sees in me a leader who can carry that fight forward with passion and with purpose. His support isn’t just humbling, it’s a reminder that belief, experience, and people power can still move the needle in American politics. #il02
This is Rafiyah. After losing her 19-year-old son to suicide in May 2020, she founded Soul Survivors of Chicago to support families affected by suicide, violence & trauma. She transforms her pain into purpose daily, reminding us we can choose to be the light others need. #il02
Always great seeing the Boss Lady @robinlynnekelly.bsky.social and looking forward to building on the great work she’s done in our district. I'm grateful to the Rich Township Democratic Organization for having me at their community breakfast and creating space for our communities! #il02
I’m deeply disturbed. While the White House distracts us, they’re pushing back on the #BigBeautifulBill - a lifeline for 13M Americans relying on Medicare, Medicaid & SNAP.

I firmly oppose any escalation of war in the Middle East. #il02 comes first, not politics or profit. 🇺🇸
Recently, I had a great time at a community block party surrounded by friends and family. It's always energizing to connect with the people who make our neighborhoods strong - from our labor leaders and school board members to coaches, DJs, and community organizers! #il02
A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of joining the Daughters of Haiti event alongside community members, mentors, and friends. I'm proud to celebrate the resilience of Haitian women and honor their significant contributions to our nation's history. #haitianamerican #il02
Today we celebrate Juneteenth, a day that reminds us freedom delayed is freedom denied, but also that liberation is possible when we refuse to give up hope. Today we celebrate how far we've come, and tomorrow we continue building the future our children deserve. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #il02
This horrific act should remind us that behind every policy disagreement are real people with families who love them. We must recommit ourselves to stand united against those who choose violence over discourse.
Political violence has absolutely no place in our democracy. When we target elected officials for their service, we attack the very foundation of our democratic system and the communities they represent.
I’m deeply devastated by the tragic targeted shootings of Minnesota lawmakers Rep. Melissa Hortman and Sen. John Hoffman and their families. The loss of Rep. Hortman and her husband is devastating, and I pray for Sen. Hoffman and his wife as they fight for their lives.
Eid Mubarak to all our Muslim neighbors, families, and friends! Wishing you a joyous, peaceful, and blessed Eid as you celebrate with loved ones.

I am sadden by the loss of Officer Krystal Rivera, a dedicated member of CDP & a true public servant. Her bravery, commitment, & courage reminds us that public safety isn’t optional-it’s essential. My thoughts are w/ her family, loved ones, & the entire community. May her memory never be forgotten.
Spent an inspiring evening with the Dolton community on Thursday celebrating the unbreakable spirit and resilience that defines our neighborhoods. Events like these remind us that when we come together, we lift each other up.

#tbt I fought against education cuts years ago, working across the aisle with Senator Flanagan in NY to protect students from tuition raids. Now Trump is slashing programs that help students afford college. Education isn't a partisan issue. We must protect students by working together again. #IL02
I’m incredibly honored to have the support of leaders who’ve spent their lives serving our communities. From local champions like Alan Banks & Mickensy Ellis-White to national voices like Van Jones. This is more than a campaign, we are meeting the moment to build a stronger district together! #IL02
I send my deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Rep. Charlie Rangel. A decorated war veteran, founding member of the Congressional Black Caucus, and a formidable voice in Congress. His legacy and leadership will endure for generations to come. May he rest in peace 🕊️
Over this Memorial Day weekend, I'm honored to receive the support of Mickensy Ellis-White, former Chair of the Vermilion County Democratic Party and an OIF/OND veteran. She continues to serve veterans today and I'm grateful to have her in this fight with us.
There’s nothing beautiful about the One Big Beautiful Bill Act that was passed yesterday. 260,000 IL-02 residents could lose Medicaid, while 70,000 are at risk of losing SNAP benefits. We can't give tax breaks to the wealthy while taking away food & healthcare from working families.
I'm deeply grateful for the support of my good friend, Van. His voice has been essential in bridging divides and fighting for communities that have been left behind. Together, we're building the kind of coalition IL-02 needs to move forward.

Let’s recommit ourselves to building a society where every person can live, work, and worship without fear.
My thoughts are with the families of the victims during this difficult time, and with the broader Jewish community. I know from my own community and experience that tragedies like this can feel deeply personal, whether or not the victims are known directly.
The fight against antisemitism is a fight for American values. We must unequivocally condemn hatred in all its forms and stand united against those who seek to divide us through fear and violence.
