It’s a bit ☔️ in #Limehouse and this bedraggled #pigeon has decided to bravely perch just outside my kitchen window. #BirdsUk #PigeonSky #WetWednesday 🪶
This image shows a close-up of a bird, specifically a feral pigeon (Columba livia domestica), with notable wet feathers likely due to rain. The bird displays a pronounced, slightly disheveled crest or tuft on top of its head and water droplets are visible on its back and neck. Its plumage is a mix of brown, grey, and slate tones, and the bird’s eye is partially closed, possibly indicating rest or discomfort due to the wet weather. The blurred background and rain streaks contribute to an overall moody atmosphere in the photograph.
Actually it might be a Wood Pigeon.

This Black Headed Gull (I think) is perhaps pondering if the exposed rocks in #BowCreek are real. 🪶 #BirdsUK
The image shows a rocky area with several large stones partially covered in green moss or algae. In the foreground, a small white bird with a red beak and red legs stands on top of one of the rocks. The bird appears to be a gull or a similar water bird, and it is illuminated by sunlight, casting a shadow on the rock below. The background includes shallow water pooled between the rocks, with some areas reflecting light. The overall setting is of a low tide habitat of the River Lea.

Dunno where “month” came from here. Probably should be ‘moored on’ :-)

An old lifeboat repurposed as a canal boat month #HertfordUnionCanal in #HackneyWick #EastLondon. I wonder what it’s like inside with no real windows. ⚓️
This unusual boat moored on the Hertford Union Canal in Hackney Wick is a converted lifeboat, originally designed as a fully enclosed rescue vessel for offshore oil rigs or ships. Its distinctive orange color and capsule-like shape are tell-tale signs of its origins as an emergency escape craft, which could withstand rough seas and protect occupants from the elements during evacuation.

The boat has been repurposed as a floating home, with its robust hull and unique design attracting attention on the canal.

These lifeboats are typically decommissioned after retirement from maritime service, and some are transformed into liveaboard boats, quirky houseboats, or canal dwellings in urban locations such as London.

The exterior shows signs of weathering, with replacements and patchwork where windows have been added or covered, and modern accessories for canal life are fitted on top.

Another great street #mural by abraham.o, spotted on White Post Lane by the bridge over the River Lee in #EastLondon. Always a joy to find something new when I walk up there. #StreetArt
This image shows a vibrant street art scene on an urban wall. The centerpiece is a highly detailed, realistic mural of an older man with a beard and mustache, wearing a hat. The lifelike portrait is rendered in shades of gray, demonstrating remarkable depth and texture.
Next to the portrait, there’s a colorful, graphic cartoon featuring a character wearing blue-rimmed sunglasses with “CE” and “PE” in the lenses. Over the cartoon and partly on a nearby utility pole, bold hand-painted text reads: “IF DESTROYED STILL TRUE.” The wall and surrounding area are covered with additional graffiti tags, stickers, and art, adding to the eclectic urban atmosphere.
The scene captures the dynamic, expressive spirit of street art culture, blending realism and pop-art styles.

Blimey, St. Paul’s without St. James was a lot closer when this was engraved!

Experimenting with #StreetPhotography. Away from the crowds, down by the river.
#CanaryWharf #bw
This photo is a black-and-white image showing a solitary figure sitting on stone steps beside a waterfront or canal. The individual appears relaxed, focused on a mobile device held in their hands, and has a cup or container placed beside them on the step. The background consists of rough stone walls, iron posts linked with chains, and more steps leading up to a street level above. A sign saying “DANGER” is visible on the wall behind, suggesting the area may be adjacent to deep water. The overall atmosphere is calm and slightly industrial, combining the textures of old stone, metal, and brickwork. The person’s face has been deliberately blurred to maintain privacy.

I’m confused. Which day is it?
adrmil.soapyfrog.com
Yes , but I wondered because the signage in the photo looks like something AI might generate, though it does very much look like Gustavo Minos’ style. 🤷
Close crop of a sign in the original posted image. The text looks odd.

Heron bracing against the breeze of #StormAmy * - or do Herons always look like that? 🤣 🪶 #BirdsUK #Wapping
* wasn’t actually very windy in London
This image shows a tranquil waterside scene featuring a large bird perched on a small wooden structure floating on a pond. The bird resembles a heron, with its long neck tucked in and characteristic grey feathers. Behind the heron, there is a patch of water lilies and another bird, possibly a gull, resting among the leaves. In the background, several bicycles are parked along a fence, and a blue car is visible near a walkway lined with brickwork. The overall setting appears to be an urban water garden or a pond within a residential area, combining elements of nature with city life.

I had the zx81 keyboard committed to memory. Skipped the original Speccy after trying the rubber keys and went Dragon. Later spectra had type-it-out BASIC so no need to memorise.

I thought this was an AI generated image because of the terrible text artifacts but found an original reference that is quite clean and does indeed look like a print of a photo. I wonder how this version got the way it is?

Unexpected guest visiting the #Egyptian#Geese family. #BirdsUK 🪶 #Limehouse
A brown and tan adult Egyptian Goose with distinctive eye markings and pink legs stands alert on a square wooden platform surrounded by green pond water, accompanied by a black waterbird and a cluster of fuzzy goslings with dark and light patches grouped near the edge. A close-up view of the same brown and tan adult goose tending to seven fluffy, dark-and-light goslings on a wooden platform, while one gosling stands in the bright green pond water nearby and a black waterbird observes from the corner.

There’s labels: “suggestive” “nudity” and “adult” which really isn’t enough.

The moderation settings do cover more. All a bit half baked I think.
