I feel so lost in this craft, and so alone, like I'm not going anywhere and never will. After 15 years, the reality of today causes the dread to grow to unsustainable levels. I look around me in the creative space, and I realize I'll never be enough.

How can I get my motivation back? Is there anything I can do to block out this noise? It's one thing to compare yourself to fellow artists, but comparing yourself to a soulless machine is pointless.

As I create my visual art, I'm reminded constantly how I can just generate something new instead to save my time.

As I write my novel, I'm reminded by the internet how AI can just write it for me, and how many are taking that route. As I write music I'm reminded through
ads how many artists are taking the AI route.

With this change in AI, where people are willing to throw away the human experience, where evidence of your creation needs to be provided to be legitimate, where creation is put on the backburner in favor of appeasing an algorithm for the sole purpose of promoting what you've made

After 15 years of making music, I've come to terms being a nobody, throwing my voice into an empty void for the rest of my life. Perhaps there was a chance that someone in that void would hear what I have to say.

As I open Ableton to create a song, whether it's lofi, ambient, trance, bass music, you name it, perspective fits in, that this may be pointless.

While this has been happening, some of my favourite genres of music have become infected with Suno AI generations. Created mindlessly to fill out the time of a YouTube playlist video, saving the YouTuber from a copyright strike by not using an artists' music.

They echo the excitement of creating their own music and movies without thought. Simultaneously believing they're profession will be safe from this. How haunting is it that out of convenience many are willing to eliminate the humanity of art?

These were often delivered with an excited expression. Listening to podcasts as well from non artists, celebrating AI's development, that the change is inevitable and we can't fight it.

Lately I've engaged in conversations with non artists, hearing their perspective on generative AI. Hauntingly, some responses I got sent me a shiver: "soon we'll be able to generate our own playlists, full of music meant for us that cater specifically to what we want."

Thus is the conversation on AI. Something that initially I was excited for, I participated in it and thought it was a tool for artists to further pursue their creativity. After truly looking into it, my perspective changed.

It's undeniable that our world is changing; technology continues to develop at a rate that's inconceivable. As if ignoring the warnings of science fiction, we push forward, full speed ahead, without thinking of consequences.
