I’ve done polling on this for my clients last year. The demand for this is low. Users willingness to pay extra is also low. Combined this makes for a terrible business case. Key reason being that people love to see recognisable human actors. Cause art is not about the medium but human connection.

I propose thinking of online media as products. Products marketed to children under the age of consent undergo quality scrutiny - like our food or clothes. If it’s bad quality - aka designed to be addictive - it’s not pg18. I don’t care about some book or author. This argument is sound to me.

“The internet is today’s public square.” A common argument but Id like to post a friendly challenge for it. 99% of the internet users engage with most of the time is privately owned & driven by commercial interests. Users aren’t valued customers but data assets exploited & sold to other corporations

Yes sure. But for all the hating we forget to vehemently love democracy. Passionately love human rights. Violently love freedom.

And yet I’d never propose restricting their artistic expression or anything. You can find it distasteful and offensive and let it exist. That’s how we’re different from fascists.

Just call it something else not Anne Frank. Then it could be a good musical. But using her for marketing purposes? That’s outrageously greedy.

Though I respect her- I think Greta has more attention than impact. She’s very good at raising awareness but stops short of research (scientists/journalists) or org building. I’d rather want one of those journalist that actually went to Gaza/Ukraine and reported from the frontlines get recognised.

I think it was founded in 1920/30s Germany. So what they caught must have been a ghost. Which makes a lot of sense in many ways.

I was literally thinking the other day - how come Gaga & co haven’t crafted a good protest anthem yet… history needs a soundtrack.

Meanwhile “men back then” minding their business
George IV (1762-1830), when Prince of Wales - in a decidedly flamboyant dress and cocky posture - having nothing in common with today’s conception of manliness.
