We are looking for help with an open-source project to allow peer-to-peer encrypted ad-hoc networking in challenging network environments (IE: protests). Will eventually allow Apple and Android phones to securely coordinate without using public cell/TCP-IP networks.

actually, Trump could have fired federal employees via normal rules and procedures at any time. during a shutdown, he *can't* fire most federal employees because they don't have a working HR department to execute those normal rules and procedures. Safe.

RE: firing - they can try that any time. They have to follow all the rules they'd follow at any other time - but with a shut down, the HR departments will be out so actually during a shutdown it'd be a lot *harder* to carry out the threat. Impossible, really.

When you mentioned a bookstore that was a city block I thought you were in Powell's (the Strand is puny by comparison). Having lived PDX > NYC '94 > PDX '20 I can say I miss NYC, but PDX has good bones. You could plop it over the East River between the East Village and BKN and it'd fit right in.

Our cancel was mostly a symbolic gesture; we were paid yearly thru Nov 11 '25, but now will renew - probably monthly - just to keep tabs on things. I can see more spinlessness coming out of Disney.

As for Hulu, our #1 streamed show is Jimmy Kimmel - our parrot's favorite TV before-bed show by far.

The west coast states need to enact laws forbidding any network operator within their borders from owning more than 25% of any combination of broadcast, print or online media nationwide. 5% of print + 15% of radio + 10% of TV + 3% of online websites = can't operate in this state.
