As the letter "g" doesn't make a difference, this is BS. On the other hand, if it is about #nutriton and the concern is that some plant milks may have less of certain nutrients, there could be sensible minimum requirements e.g. for #protein content, and deviations could be marked, as is done… 2/4

On the #regulation of "animal" terms that cannot be used for #plantbased food in the #EU. My favorite is that "goat milk" can be sold and there is, apparently, no risk that it is mistaken for (cow) "milk" and used in one's coffee. But "oat milk" cannot be sold as consumers would be confused? … 1/4

Indeed. Focus should be on regulating ends, not means, outcomes, not processes. Problem solved. Criticism of processes is often (ab-)used to target specific companies or industries that use it, even if it means others then cannot use it, either. (Be it e.g. modern plant breeding or food processing.)
