OC-Tober Day 11: Skills

Cami Lin's (they/he/she, genderfluid) greatest skill is that they're a model student and a major bookworm. They're always studying, even through an accident their freshman year of college that required their forearm to be amputated. Still, they're not one to brag about this. If anything, they don't think it's anything too impressive to just be a good student compared to other talented people.

"Anyone can read books, I guess... It'd be nice if I was actually special at something cool, especially outside of school... Lots of other people can do it, I wish I could too..."

Jane is normally very chill, so much that nowadays, some can forget that her past is stained with gallons of blood. Sure, that blood belongs to Luminous Pawns and Bounty Hunters and various other scum found in the Teron Region but it’s still very unsettling how into it she gets.

“Something about the smell of my prey’s blood spilling out the second my claws dig into them… the taste of it all as I wipe my knife across my tongue… It gets me riled up like you wouldn’t believe… The smell of death makes me feel so alive~”

She’s a demon in hand to hand combat and expertly trained in handling a knife, both taught to her by some of her closest friends. She revels in taking on scum with her Weavile by her side. In fact, her gloves were crafted by one of her friends so they can act as a weapon. A sharp and deadly weapon that can slice through anything, much like her Weavile’s claws.

Rumor has it that she’s mellowed out in recent times, but who can say for sure? She’s still feared by many. Adored by all who know her, and feared by those who don’t. She is The Pirate Queen and all who encounter her must run away as soon as possible.

OC-tober Day 10: Symbolism/Themes

Saturn Yang (she/her) stands below a starry night sky with the galaxy visible. She stands in a field of yellow chrysanthemums. Saturn is an aerospace engineer, so space is an obvious theme for her. To her, it represents both the chance for limitless possibilities while also serving as a reminder of the limits of people as a whole. Space travel isn't easy, and even if they've overcome some barriers at this point, she knows that the true dream for limitless space exploration may never happen in her lifetime, so space serves as a reminder of things she may never see or understand.
Chrysanthemums in east asian cultures can represent fortune, but they also can symbolize sorrow or a desire for a stable life.
Despite all this, Saturn is easily one of my more well adjusted characters. She's very sweet, just very thoughtful and insecure as well!

In Pokémon Black Spirit, you’ll find yourself helping folks in dire need. You might notice how a lot of these people have someone they deeply care about or even used to care about. And that during their darkest moments, they’re reminded on why they push through everything despite all the hardships and cruelty the Luminous throw their way. It’s because there’s always something to love. Be it someone, something, or even yourself. Love is something that can’t be broken, it’s something that transcends life and death. It’s something that reminds us that even in a world full of hatred and prejudice, there’s still something positive to look towards.

Aria Minuet is a character that hasn’t been officially met in Pokemon Black Spirit (Look forward to chapter 2/3!) but you and her wife, Annette, find a way to bring back Aria’s smile. A smile that was stolen by the Luminous almost 15 years ago. Annette misses that smile dearly and would do anything to bring it back. Judging by the art, maybe your efforts were worth it in the end…
