Company says Brent Oxley’s dictionary domain is a typo of its made up name
UDRP Panel finds healthcare company tried to reverse hijack the domain prescriptive.com. In one of the most amusing UDRP filings I've ever read, a company with a made-up brand name owner argued that a correctly-spelled version of the word was typosquatting. Healthcare technology company Prescryptive Health uses the domain name prescryptive.com. It filed a dispute against the correctly spelled dictionary domain prescriptive.com, which is owned by domain investor Brent Oxley.

SnapNames and NameJet roll out “bid or buy” second chance inventory
New program offers second chance at domains for a reduced price. Last week, I was searching domains on SnapNames when I saw an unusual price and tag next to a domain (see image). The auction was for only $19, and the tag showed I could buy the domain for $39. I reached out to the company to find out what this is.

Missing umlaut: German broadcaster München Live TV tries reverse domain hijacking
Broadcaster's logo is for a domain name it doesn't own. A regional broadcaster in Germany has been found (pdf) guilty of reverse domain name hijacking. München Live TV Fernsehen GmbH, which uses the domain name muenchen.tv, filed a cybersquatting dispute against the domain münchen.tv (note the umlaut). Christian Reise registered the domain name in 2004, which was before the Complainant existed.

Lease-to-own is picking up
About a quarter of my sales this year are lease-to-own transactions. This year has been a bit slow for me for domain sales. As of October 10, I've sold 27 domains in 2025 (excluding wholesale/liquidation transactions). However, looking back at last year, I was actually a little behind this rate and finished with 41 sales, following a strong close to 2024.

Lawsuit alleges domain was renewed and should not have been auctioned off. A high-profile expired domain auction for blockchain.ai ended today, but the former registrant has filed a lawsuit claiming he renewed the domain. In the lawsuit, Howard Gould stated that he was the domain's registrant as of December 2017. The domain was set to auto-renew with OnlyDomains, but the auto-renewal failed, resulting in the domain expiring on July 19, 2025.

Google pitches dot-brand top level domain names
Company says it's not too hard to transition to dot-brands. Google Registry published a blog post today promoting the idea that companies should apply for their own dot-brand top level domain name. The post explains that Google uses .google for some of its websites, and provides three lessons learned. First, it says .brand domains can be the "safer" option. It states that for "security considerations", Google couldn't launch its blog "The Keyword" on google.com, so instead it went with blog.google.
