I wish they’d just given him saline, but I’m sure the professionals who vaxxed him did the right thing. One of the worst things about Trump is he makes people like me think evil thoughts.

Here's a neat trick they teach in authoritarianism school: If you purge the people who measure the effects of your policies (BLS, MMWR), you can just claim everything's great, and nobody can prove how much damage you're doing.

Is it even legal to fire people while they’re on (as yet unpaid) leave? And if they sent this notice to their work email, then that assumes they are working while on leave, which is verboten. Of course, when has legality ever mattered to these people?

I don’t even care whether it’s easy for the Republicans. It’s the right thing to do, and it’s the smart thing to do. The Democrats need to be making it really hard for Republicans to do anything else.

Worth noting that 1/10 of lethal injections are botched (incompetence &/or unnecessary suffering) or failures, with Alabama notorious but far from alone in this. It’s hard to even read about these, much less know they’re happening in our name.

That’s interesting. The bright side is that the people who carry out the sentences have a small spark of humanity inside, even if officials who order the sentences to be carried out do not. I like your idea, especially since SO many executions are botched. The powers-that-be still won’t stop them!

The whole country is to blame for the US allowing executions, absolutely. To be fair, the states where executions actually happen are pretty much on par with those repressive countries.
