NGC7497 A dusty galaxy in Pegasus This spiral edge on galaxy is located almost 60 million light years away. It is visible in this image hiding behind the integrated flex nebula, a faint cloud of interstellar dust within our own Milky Way galaxy
Shot from my backyard , September 2025 .
It was much brighter than I thought it would be given the hemispheric power. Could it be because we are at the equinox, but it was so bright and mobile?

WOOHOO! My very first APOD ( Nasa’s Astronomy Photo of the Day) I am so pleased and honoured that the APOD team selected my crazy plasma time lapse. It was a pretty unusual sight. They rarely float in the air ( err, I mean space….) like that. #astronomy
Thanks Will I watch your channel a lot
My first totally analog photo print!
I took the picture with a zero 45 pinhole camera at 50 mm with 4 x 5 black and white sheet film .
I develop the film at home and then used the film negative to print a cyanotype in the sunshine!!

Shot with my Big C11 scope and the ASI2600MC colour camera for 6 hours on the fine evening of the April New Moon. No filters!!
I will admit to a small obsession with ARP Peculiar Galaxies ( see the pictures from my big ARP picture book)
Ok I may just love all galaxies….
Here is NGC 3718 shot over 2 nights from the Ottawa Backyard at 1960mm foal length
Blackberry Anthotype I have had this image outside in the sun since February with a negative on top of a paper coated in blackberry juice. It came in earlier than planned due to a sudden snowstorm still, I’m quite pleased with it and I think I’ll start another blackberry image ASAP #anthotype
