& managed us for a few games as Caretaker early 90s! Remember one at Stamford Bridge. Absolute #Everton royalty. Did big things in US ⚽️ too in Seattle particularly. One of our biggest legends & a gentlemen with it. Thank you Jimmy 👏🏼 #NSNO 💙🤍

Jordan Pickford has kept 8 consecutive clean sheets for England - the longest ever run of clean sheets by an England goalkeeper. #EFC

Boca is in mourning after the death of its manager Miguel Angel Russo. Russo had been ill for a long time, but decided to coach to the last. Argentinian friends tell me he attended his final training session only two weeks ago. RIP.

Those are bounces, it’s a ball
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
It must make you really question everything, your identity, talent, the lot. This is what you put yourself up for going pro I guess. Nobody cares if the chicken gets dropped behind scenes at KFC they’ll still eat it

Do you know what we’re doing on psychological side atm @thetoffees.bsky.social ?
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
Not one of those Gladiator hugs to kill him, to be clear
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
It does get worse the more you look at it, sadly. Ball doesn’t even bobble. Yeah it’s bouncing a bit but….

He needs a hug after that.

No arguments there other than Kegger being “very good”…has by his standards but those aren’t Everton’s, he’s a tugboat at sea when there’s movement around & off him but has stepped up & done his best 👍🏼

Stats like the below explain why JT retained but I’d prefer 2 quick CBs, time to change identity
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
Fair. Let’s get JB back & get those partnerships solid throughout the whole team 💙🤍
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
& in terms of value, what we needed at time, his character, attitude, I’m sure as a trainer, mood around the place, as a Club rep, brave, loyal, organises there is such a long list of positives

Loads to like. He will just be targeted by teams with quick forwards who’ll roast him like a chicken
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
Absolutely Dave. My life would be made hellish if I was expected to be perfect, I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. He doesn’t need to be perfect.

It’s more “let it run Tarky, out Tarky, don’t dive in there Tarky……ah he’s given a penalty against Tarky…” type stuff.

Can usually be seen coming too.
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
Genuinely think we’ll see issues with players of this era who’ve headed a lot of balls (even these lighter ones) develop issues with CTE / brain functionality, it can’t be good for you + concussions etc with all these CBs inevitably get.

I attribute that to some of the more erratic Tarky behaviour
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
“Never lets us down” is extraordinarily generous, John!

Nothing wrong with being kind & positive, it’s the best way to live. But Bournemouth in the Cup (last men’s FA Cup match at Goodison - there she goes) was a horror show. It was “is this match fixing” bad like the Man U away early pen.
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
That would be a problem & I hope not indicated by the extra year for JT
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
& a holding mid.

& a left back the Manager will play

& pace (P-A-C-E) on wings

& another forward.

Then we’ll be happy, Paddy! #NSNO 😀 💙🤍
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
We could maybe pair those two as CBs eh?! Or is having two huge fuckers who are good on ball, dominant in air AND can run banned?! 😜

There are +s obviously & he’s a good lad etc I just hate seeing the same goals conceded playing so deep. It’s not the way to play, we’re Everton…push up & dominate!
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
Definitely, Branthwaite sweeping up behind (& with the ball in possession) makes it a hell of lot better, we’ll still see issues though as vs Palace either Tarky playing injured or he looked like legs had gone. I doubt Moyes doing any favours re contracts so hopefully it’s the former. JB back soon 🙏🏼
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
Ooof. That’s us playing deep for next 3 years then cos he can’t run! Fair enough maybe phased out over duration of contract (1 year not enough?) but can’t run now so big gap to CM + more goals vs us defending 6 yd box. We’re not in “survival” mode anymore we’re in “go for Europe” mode, aren’t we?!

Uefa allowing domestic games abroad is a sad turning point, ending soccer as we’ve known it | Leander Schaerlaeckens
The change may seem small, but the profit-seeking games are clearly the first step in a mass reorientation of the club game Looking back someday, it may be hard to identify the exact moment when soccer altogether lost the silhouette that had loosely contained its shape for a century. When its governing bodies let go at last, handing the reins to the horses. When the last line holding against the sport’s self-immolating avarice collapsed and all were free to just do whatever they want. When crotchety pundits were finally right and the game was fully gone. Or maybe we’ll know precisely when it was: 6 October 2025, when the Uefa executive committee declared in an extraordinary release that it was opposed to domestic league matches being played abroad – while allowing two of them “on an exceptional basis.” Barcelona and Villarreal will stage an ostensibly domestic La Liga game in Miami in December. Milan and Como are to play a Serie A match in Perth, Australia – a mere 20-hour flight from Italy – in February. Leander Schaerlaeckens’ book on the United States men’s national soccer team, The Long Game, is out in the spring of 2026. You can preorder it here. He teaches at Marist University. Got the “Everton get battered everywhere they go” chant & a few “go forth & multiply!”s along that road forgetting it was a “Matchnight” when living round there a few years ago & out for a sedate jog

There is a certain thrill to it albeit I wouldn’t do it again (wearing the shirt or jogging)
andrewjaipresly.bsky.social
It’s more clear evidence of cheating & bias pal which I use against the absolute grifters every time I speak to any of them, which is too often. They’re just cheats

All the pots, pans, medals…

Cos they did it by CHEATING! #YMCA

Good article Michael as usual, you bring nice combination of ex pro understanding / sympathy but mixed with proper Everton standards, nice to see / read 👏🏼

How did you use that EFC experience on your England debut? I thought you were superb that night (3-0 🇪🇸 @ Villa) & v unlucky not to get more 🧢s

Service is key. We don’t show patience as a fanbase giving young players time to learn on the job, especially not forwards. At the back there are people here years & years (& then we’ve extended them!) who aren’t of the level but it’s the strikers who get chopped quicker. 30 years = impatience!
