For what it’s worth I’m also not thrilled at this strange new urban fantasy reinterpretation for Dissidia but if nothing else this guy’s position in particular is hilarious because I could 100% see Kain being like “I too have experienced the deepest of heartbreak…” bc two of his friends are dating

The starkness of the difference is felt the most, I think, in Sylia.

Sylia went from calm, cool, collected businesswoman to crashing out in any scene where robots are mentioned.

Both are great, but I will almost always enjoy it when someone's a little more bombastic

Also been watching through the Bubblegum Crisis series - I finished 2033 and Crash, working my way now through 2040.

While I enjoyed 2033, I will fully acknowledge I vibe much more with 2040. Also fun to hear the dub change from "aaaahh anriii (don't wanna hurt my voice)" to full ADV Shinji screams

Best guess is that someone suggested that contextually “Lanamon” was closer to how you would pronounce it in the west, loses some of the OG meaning but it’s an example that matches up with prior emphasis for the games to match direct translation vs intent
