Here's what I stand for, even in my novels: NOAA scientist Grace Kim (she's a fish statistician at NMFS!) and Army Special Forces Staff Sergeant Rey Cruz are both children of immigrants. They are both Americans, and my books make my opinion on immigration very clear.

I went to write a free giveaway scene for my back matter teaser and it got so long I ended up paying for editing and proofing and posting it as a different novella, so THEN I had to write TWO more free teasers! 🤣

I'm just here side-eyeing the 130K current manuscript and a "free scene." I'm dead.

Last time, my writing and creativity derailed badly, full stop, but this time I'm holding on tightly to it b/c I know that reading got me through last time, and I want to be that for someone else. Also, I deserve to write and paint - and I won't let them take that, too.

This is a classic form of training. I write genre fiction, and I learned to do fight scenes by hand-copying my favorite Jack Reacher fights from Lee Child books. It gave me a sense of the pacing and blocking.

I also paint a lot, and we copy paintings all the time in order to learn techniques.

In 2002ish, my old ARNG unit thought we in the Pacific NW, the only area of CONUS NK could reach at that time, had about 19 minutes from a NK launch. We were a group that would be informed, but mostly not have any actions required of us. We thought a lot about how to use those 19 minutes.

Started a new med today!

I went to give blood, which my rare B-neg self does 3X a year, which was also the nice thing I *tried* to do for myself b/c it makes me feel less angry if I donate. Alas, I had low red cells and got free iron pills. The blood bank, those greedy lil vampires, pumping me up.

My kid spotted this hawk on the ground in SoCal. Little birds were not afraid, and it just sat there. I'm feeling lazy and thought #birdsky friends could ID on sight? Foothills East of LA.
