The French Canadian experience of singing “Le clown Samuel” to your cat Sam at 2:30 am on a Friday. Il faisait toujours comme ça - miaou, miaou, miaou, miaou

I told him it was bad, but, in the words of DJ Jazzy Jeff, parents just don’t understand (it’s cool, I love being in this phase where I’m the most unintelligent person to ever have lived)

Whoa! No way!! The universe is trying to tell you something?

Tis the season for you to think about your fortune telling methods

Yeah, I had to hand that one to him

14yo: [explaining why, if we lived in 13th c. Europe, I should let him go on the children’s crusade]
Me: I think you would have to be, like, a practicing Catholic who goes to confession and stuff
14yo: no! I wouldn’t have to go to confession! The point of a crusade is that my sins would be forgiven!

This empty fruit box that I got from the soup kitchen where I volunteer has been a BIG hit around our house
A one-eyed tuxedo cat and a grey tabby are curled up in a large fruit box lined with a blanket

I was thinking of Hamilton, Ontario (could have a fun number about working at the steel mill, followed by a somber number about climate change) but this works too

Wasn’t expecting to cry while reading Patricia Routledge’s obituary but here we are.

Text reads: ‘She had high hopes for the afterlife. “When I approach the pearly gates,” she once said, “I’d like to hear a champagne cork popping, an orchestra tuning up and the sound of my mother laughing.”’

Adding another tangent: gosh I love trains so much

I once read an excellent book about them (The Rosettis in Wonderland) through which I learned that they liked to joke that the PRB of Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood actually stood for Penis Rather Better

Oh god, don’t apologize! I just wanted to voice my affection while also acknowledging that I’m not firing on all cylinders right now

A bold claim, because I’ve lived with many annoying cats, BUT this might be the most annoying cat I’ve ever met. However, I’m willing to overlook that (most of the time) because he and my kid adore each other.

Oh no! Poor her, and poor you!

Thank you ❤️❤️❤️

Hell yeah. Probably the fanciest kind of food poisoning you can get, so you definitely need to pay $$$ for that. Salmonella is for broke people!

I have nothing intelligent to add to this conversation, just: gosh I love both of you and I hate that you are stuck in America
annetheriault.bsky.social
Ohhhhhh I feel this so much

Yeah! Tiny, hard little blisters that never pop. And then my skin peels and it looks awful. I also think it could be a type of psoriasis. It’s definitely stress-related for me

On a totally unrelated note, here’s an Accidental Renaissance Painting of 14yo and our enormous cat Benedict
A teenage boy with long blond hair snuggles with a large grey tabby cat. A silly white goose stuffy in the foreground looks directly into the camera.
