The Modern NickToons Unite!

In celebration the 20th anniversary of NickToons Unite! this October, I commissioned this tribute to the game's box art starring the next generation of NickToons from the most talented artist I'm mutuals with, NoParking Berry!

The iconic cover art for NickToons Unite! - but with Lincoln Loud from The Loud House, Annie and Pony Bramley from It’s Pony, Parker J. Cloud from Middlemost Post, and Miko Kubota from Glitch Techs in the places of SpongeBob SquarePants from the show of the same name, Jimmy Neutron from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, Timmy Turner from The Fairly OddParents, and Danny Fenton from Danny Phantom, respectively.

Lincoln is carrying his David Steele laser gun in the place of SpongeBob’s karate glove, Miko has her purple battle hammer in the air instead of a fist like Danny had up there, Parker is both smiling warmly instead of smirking and carrying no gun to contrast from Timmy, and Annie and Pony (the former riding the latter, thus creating an Ice Climbers-like character roster choice) have their eyes facing forwards - the former smiling and the latter nervously frowning - instead of to the right (left from our point of view) like Jimmy and also have no guns like he did. However, beyond those fitting adjustments, the way these NickToon stars are posed here match how the older NickToon stars appeared in the piece of art that this commission I paid NoParking Berry to draw is an elaborate reference to, complete with the same electrifying (literally!) background aesthetic. Speaking of whom, Berry has stylish signature on the bottom left corner of this art piece - right below Parker, to be more exact.

The rough draft of the NickToons Unite! tribute piece that I paid Berry to draw for me - featuring the same elements as before, but with red outlines, no color in between those lines, and a “©️D.J. Berry” watermark slapped onto the center of the art piece instead of Berry’s signature.

I found this interesting piece about Nickelodeon's future in a recent article. It seems that Ellison and his team actually give a damn.

“We’re thinking about the cable network not as declining linear assets that we need to split them up or deal with somehow. We’re thinking about those brands that we have to redefine,” Ellison said. “Nickelodeon is also one of those. Kids and family is so important to the world, and making sure that we’re doing the right thing for Nick and that whole cadre of content is critically important to us as well.”
