I posted this on #WorldWildlifeDay 2020, over on the rich man's toy. It's an annotated drone photo of my "wildlife area". I'm fortunate enough to be able to provide some refuge from the thin flailed hedges and agricultural monocultures that are now all too common. I planted all the trees and hedges.
If I can watch it soon enough I'll let you know. I don't think I've seen any bad Tom Hanks films and Steven King is not known for flops.
There's something I didn't know (or had forgotten!). Will make a point of it. I think that these days, with so much bad political/environmental news, I just want a film that's going to make me feel better not worse!😱
Hey, I've lost count of the number of times I've thought of a better way to say something _after_ I posted it!🤦‍♂️
Thanks. TBF I hadn't done anything to turn my VPN on or off when the update happened (I just hit F5). Neither did I make any changes before it returned to the way it was (F5 again).
PPS: I just tried with and without my VPN and either way it's back to how it was. Odd.
PS: I also attach to a UK site when the VPN is active.
Thanks for the reply. I have a VPN but checked the icon and it showed as off. Perhaps it was still active and the icon was wrong? There are too many sites that have issues with the VPN, so I run without it most of the time. I have not previously had a problem with BBC News when the VPN is active.
Thanks for the reassurance - I'll gather my courage for next time!
Be careful we with the term "America's first" - it's a bit close to something Tom probably wouldn't associate himself with!😉
BBC News website has returned and I can find stuff again - that was weird!🤔
He's trying to get his act together in time for Halloween.
Looks like "Audio" is a bit like "Sounds" - just much harder to navigate.

Likewise "Video" is a bit like "iPlayer" - just much harder to navigate.

Well this is great, I now have to play hide and seek with the content i want!
What the hell just happened to the BBC News website? Now I can't find anything! Links to "Climate" news and "World" news (with sub categories by country) - gone! Links to "Sounds" and "iPlayer" - gone! WTF?
I've watched the beginning of The Green Mile a few times when it's been on TV but never seen the rest due to a feeling of impending doom.😱
OK, I did try Google (which I usually avoid) - saw the animation, thanks!

Do you think perhaps Tom Hanks is trolling you?😉
TBF you'd have to have a heart of stone not to cry by the end of Philadelphia, even if you'd never met a gay person. Just the words by Springsteen bring a tear to my eye.
I didn't say that was the first time!😉 It can be cathartic to experience those emotions through a film.
Sadly it seems that a large number of people are going to go there. Then everyone will suffer.
It is a classic.
"Would you like to see what Lieutenant Dan looks like?"
... and ...
"I wish I could have been there with you."
"You were." (sob)
I had forgotten about Captain Dan! Was more thinking of the jingoism from the recruiting campaigns of yesteryear and "an Englishman’s duty", but I have to admit it does sound like a line from Forrest Gump.😂
Beautiful. So many shades of green and the rain blur is so atmospheric.
Honestly, how's an Englishman meant to die a glorious death if some damn foreigner steals their place and dies instead.🤦‍♂️
I don't think this can be the real image, given the aerial view of the demolition area. For one thing the image seems to show it being on the wrong side?
(I should add that there's plenty of evidence he was already a terrible person before they started but they very probably increased his belief in his own infallibility)
Absolutely. I remember reading, during his first term, about some of the TV execs involved in making the US version of The Apprentice. They had gone to extreme lengths to inflate Trump's ego, in pursuit of viewing figures. Many later regretted creating the monster!
Could not agree more. It's tragic enough to see the damage he's causing to the environment in the US but he seems determined to ensure the whole world follows suit and Musk wants to export the same breed of politics.
