Right? I was told 'true Autistics are diagnosed by age 6' and if I truly am Autistic I must be an extremely mild case and they're not talking about people like me. They're only talking about those who are 100% non verbal and still wearing diapers at age 16.
Last day to submit any Marina Sirtis or Deanna Troi art, pictures, short written tributes (try to limit to 2-3 sentences), etc. I will include all of them in my "Troi Day Tribute Project". When you submit, let me know how you would like to be credited or if you would prefer to be anonymous. Thanks!
I've been told when they talk about Autism they're not talking about "my type of Autism" because I'm capable of posting on social media when their kids will (their words) "never be normal".

Got this fortune from a fortune cookie tonight. Not sure how to feel about this.
Gotta love when the caller ID says 'Potential Spam'. Yeah, that's going to make me pick up 😆
So complete opposite end of the country. My family was from the Palermo region (Corleone). So northwestern Sicily.
Where in Italy is your family from? My family is southern Italian (Sicilian) and Greek. People ask me where I go tanning because they see me in winter & summer. I'm like "Outside". 15 min in the sun and I get a nice base. Only time I'd consider going tanning is to even out the tan (tan lines).
Final result. Winter vs summer. No tanning unless you count going out under the sun tanning. 😄 And this is from 3 beach days (one this past weekend).
My nonna (grandma) used to make these every Christmas Eve. They were delicious. Glad you enjoyed yours.

Remembering that history helps me honor their resilience while standing in solidarity with anyone who’s ever been treated as 'less'.
I tell this story not to compare struggles, but to remember that prejudice has many forms. Also, that courage can grow anywhere.

This is why I say Sicilian-American rather than Italian-American. Even though Sicily is part of Italy, my family was never fully accepted.
PT 2: My great-grandma was turned away from Ellis Island 3 times. She was 14 when she started & was 17 when she was finally 'accepted into America'.

Mainland Italians treated Sicilians as less-than & in the US they were mocked, excluded & called slurs. Still, she persevered & built a new life.
In honor of Italian-American Heritage Month, I want to share something. My family came from Sicily. They faced discrimination both there & here. Because of their darker, olive skin they were seen as 'other'.
