Yeah, sounds like the first notes of the main theme.

Some old advice about starting big projects (game translation projects in my case, but a lot of it is probably universal)

(Animation by Nintendo, gameplay footage by XCageGame on YouTube).

There's no way it's not Pikmin-related (sound on).

I think the whole "looks like a mobile game" thing is starting to lose meaning. Graphical quality (and art styles) of mobile games today has begun to match or surpass that of some older console games that are held in high regard by many of the very same people who insult mobile games.

It's not just kids. Adults see realism and equate that with quality.

Like, I get people's frustration with both Nintendo and Pokemon. And beauty is subjective. But I seriously cannot relate to the impulse to claim that the top image looks better.

I don't play Pokemon games, and I don't have any interest in either of these games. But Palfarm looks like somebody dropped their Pokemon toys all over somebody's backyard garden in a GTA game. Pokopia's art style is so much more appealing, despite how derivative it is.

I drop one more time below 1800 and I'm quitting the game. There's no point to this anymore.😐

(the weapon is Inkbrush, if you're curious).

I dropped from around 2000 to like 1690 and now I'm at 1850ish and I can't seem to push it any higher.

Somebody take Splatoon away from me. For some inexplicable reason, I care what my series weapon power is on the one weapon I use, and overwhelmingly the game just causes me frustration. T_T

It's such a weird interaction when you say a thing online, somebody says "um actually," and then you calmly point out how they're mistaken and they block you. 🙃

With a large point gain, it's up to you to keep up that level of performance by carrying a lot, because if you don't you'll get knocked back down pretty quickly. That's how the system attempts to generally match you with players of comparable skill.
artsyomni.com
And so conversely, if all of your teammate's power is lower, there's a higher likelihood that they're not as good at those weapons, so defeating a team of higher power (probably skill as well) should be rewarded with a higher point gain.
artsyomni.com
Well it is still more or less a measure of skill for that weapon specifically. If all of the players on your team are good at their respective weapons, your team's average power would generally be higher.
artsyomni.com
What I'm actually complaining about is when your team *should* have won the match because your average power is much higher, yet everyone on the team underperformed for whatever reason.
artsyomni.com
Converely, losing to a team of equal strength should penalize a moderate amount, losing to a stronger team should penalize less, and to a weaker team, penalize more. And this is how the system does work. But it often doesn't feel that way.
artsyomni.com
The system should give a moderate amount of points for defeating a team of equal power, a high amount of points for defeating a team that overpowers you, and a low amount of points for defeating a weaker team.
artsyomni.com
My complaint is about the times when your team, on paper, has a much higher power than your opponents, yet your opponents steamroll you, and the experience is just bad.
artsyomni.com
If your team's average power is well below your opponents, and you beat them, the system should reward you with a higher point gain, and should give you a small amount of points for defeating a team that is well below your team's average.
artsyomni.com
This makes no sense. Why should a system punish a player for fighting against a team that vastly overpowers them, while barely giving them anything for winning against a team that is equal to or well overpowers them? That's not how the system works.

Splatoon 3 weapon power in a nutshell:
Hardest fought victory of your life? Here's a measly 2 pts.
Enemy team steamrolled you? That'll be -30 pts. You're welcome.

I curse the devs of Splatoon for adding series weapon power to the game and giving me a metric by which to measure my self worth as a player.

Barely. =P But I'm guessing it'll be sort of small scale budget title (maybe even 20-30 dollars) and won't have the same emphasis on bands or large variety of genres represented. I kind of anticipate it'll be like a DLC campaign, but detached from a main game.
