Because there is a difference between the two, and it all comes down to intent.

Address when necessary, but don’t fall for their tricks

The entire point of a flank isn’t to get a kill, it’s to divert attention. When a flanker doesn’t put enough pressure to force a response, ignoring them will result in a 4v3 advantage.

Yes there are times where you have to address a flanker, but it’s not always required.

A big reason why the enemy team lost the game is that because they spend so much time addressing a flanker that doesn’t demand attention, they don’t spend that time moving up, taking space, etc.

So they can’t get enough going because their attention is focused on the wrong things

Ironically, this is actually a decent showcase of what happens when you give a flanking player too much respect

Obv it’s an open game, but eventually, they should be able to catch on that the flanker isn’t doing anything threatening, yet they decide to make them the priority.
