Pushed the Processing a bit more.

Now if only my motor gets back from maintenance, so I can remount the Trident and use my big scopes as well. It is supposed to be in transit in the mail, but man the Netherlands has a crap tracking system...

So there are black spots on the image that I don't think should be there. Still pretty pleased with the results. Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to do more imaging, now with a weaker moon glare. (6/7)

To finish the night, I went for the Monkey Head Nebula, with ~2.7h integration. This one was harder to equalise especially because, as with every time I target nebulae, the freaking satellites decide to show up. Also something went wrong with the flats. Suspect some images had dew condensation.(5/7)

So in all I got two targets: First, we have around 2h of M33, the Triangulum galaxy. As with the next target, equalising the background was a nightmare because the Moon wanted in on the fun. (4/7)

So I was testing new equipment off the bat, as it was also the first time I ever used an electronic focuser. Turned out to be very easy although I couldn't get the thermometer to work. Not critical anyway, as I spend the whole night next to the telescope anyway. (3/7)

That right there is a Ragdoll 17 Pro. An harmonic drive mount. Heard they could be finicky to control but I have to say, it is the first time I get proper good results with a mount out the box. Very impressed, very pleased. Along my 60mm Askar F, it was the best night I remember having. (2/7)

Some of you may remember my Big Mount Woes. But you might not know I also had Smol Mount Woes. My SA GTi never worked properly. So I go a cat: (1/7)

My most recent example of this was Gaiman. (I don't care enough about the Fifth Element to be dismayed for this information).

Jesus christ, had no idea. It was a movie I enjoyed as a child. I had no idea the director was such a (allegedly) piece of shit human being.
astrocalhau.bsky.social
Honestly I don't even know who the director is. And the criticisms of the movie that I hear about was always about how ridiculous it was. With more people "hating" it than not. Regarding the creepiness, I have no knowledge to judge.

I did not see a single reference to The Fifth Element. Shameful.

I was just looking at this filter set (and it's SII complement). How is it? It looks insanely cheap, compared to, say, the L-enhance.
astrocalhau.bsky.social
You take that back! That cat is NOT ridiculous!

Trick question. You eat it now and buy another after the dentist appointment.

It is very telling that the "authorities" like the European Commission continue to refer to the actions that led us here as "Progress".

Eu acredito piamente que esse monte de merda não bate bem da cabeça, mas ao mesmo tempo penso que permitir-lhe a desculpa de demência é dár-lhe uma escapatória fácil à responsabilidade do que faz...

Not progress. Unchecked exploitation. Which is actually a form of regression, thinking about it.
ec.europa.eu
Europe’s environment and oceans are sending a clear message:

Progress has a price. Waters are rising fast.

Here’s what the latest EU reports reveal ↓
Split image of the same island showing changes in sea level: the left side labelled '1901' in black and white shows a lighthouse and house with more exposed land; the right side labelled '2024' in colour shows the same structures with water much closer, indicating rising sea levels. Text on top reads ‘The oceans will claim what we fail to protect’. European Commission logo at bottom right.

Not the cone of shame! 😭

I'm not British and didn't contribute to the fight, but I take this as a huge personal win.
