couple of ideas:
- i'm a maintainer of Eclipse uProtocol, an open source service mesh framework for automotive and other high assurance domains; plenty to do in Rust
- noticed that the carla crate in Rust when unmaintained a year back; this could be impactful

in our last meetup we had a mix of professionals and students that hadn't contributed to open source yet. that seemed like a cool direction to take the group as a first activity

bouncing back and forth between cooking and coding today. added the radar sensor to the ego vehicle in support of hack participants crafting cool Automated Driving algorithms. yes: it's Rust 🦀 and yes now you can get this data shipped over Eclipse uProtocol
