I don't know a single one of my transgender friends who identifies as "transsexual" despite them taking or wanting hormones/surgery/medical transition. OP is trying to create a distinction without difference in direct conflict with a large portion of the people she ostensibly wants to describe

It's not precision to refer to people who don't identify as transsexual as transsexual because you believe "transgender" is inherently different and non-medical-- especially when a bunch of transgender people are saying so.

also, the article DOES impose language. The author of it continues to insist that "taking hrt" makes one "transsexual", and of course the subhead made it very clear how Op and ppl who agree with her think about us transgenders

you can describe yourself as a transsexual without forcing the definition that "hrt makes you transsexual, it is changing sex, and ppl who are transgender aren't doing that". I have the same basic medical needs as you and tbqh I am not the person in this conversation trying to delegitimize ppl

And the point I'm making is that "changing sex" isn't a fact and asserting that it is to a trans person who has chosen to perceive sex as individual systems to manipulate, not a binary or even bimodal choice, is incredibly transphobic
