Rancid bastard got a bloody nose

Max, a young man with long white hair stands on top of a walk sign. His hands hold onto the traffic light, keeping himself steady. The light glows a harsh red against his face. His feet are bare and covered in scars. It’s clear he’s lived a life, feral and alone. He looks down in annoyance, as if someone just told him to get down from his perch.

Cold tiles and cold hearts

The door opened quietly. Light from the hall cut into the bathroom to expose the young man on his floor. He was naked, raw, and cold on the bathroom tiles. Long white hair fell around him, a mark of beauty in the dark. The kid must have been struggling against his cuffs again, still trying to pry himself free. It was only a matter of time before he broke a thumb to escape them but he knew Max wouldn’t push it that far just yet.

Rod let out a breath through his nose when he saw the torn stitches on Max’s ankle. The blood was smeared around grotesquely and Rod knew that had been intentional. The kid had dug in with his toenails, ripping into his own flesh and for what? To annoy Rod? Act out? Get more attention? Rod figured that tonight the latter was the most likely.

Max didn’t speak. Didn’t frown or scowl or beg. All he afforded his captor was the same seemingly passive stare he always gave him. Rod knew damn well not to trust that stillness. Love couldn’t fix a monster and it never would. As he looked down at Max, his heart, he told himself this was for the best.
