Kouyou was the one who taught them all they know about makeup. She said it would be useful for undercover missions, but of course knew he'd be using it to cover the eye bags more often than for missions.

He either doesn't get enough sleep, or the quality of said sleep is always poor. As a result they have massive dark circles under his eyes.

Whenever leaving his dorm, said circles get covered up with makeup, just so nobody will worry about their sleep habits.

Instead he smells faintly of mint and whiskey, he is an alcoholic after all.

Speaking of alcoholism, whenever he spirals mentally they tend to drink themself to sleep.

Upon realizing they feel a little less miserable when taking care of themself, he started showering twice a day and changing out his bandages regularly throughout the day.

As a result the detective no longer reeks of sweat, musk and blood.

They have a pet crab named Shelldon. He can talk and is the cousin of Lovecraft. Physically he looks like a Gazami Crab, but is about 4 times the size of one.

Shelldon is extremely lightly based on Basatan from The Master of Crabs by Clark Ashton Smith.

Another hobby of theirs is going to the garbage dump to find electronics and appliances. He brings them home to thoroughly clean them before fixing them, he's gotten really good at it throughout the years.

A squirrel once climbed in through the window and into the sink, dying very shortly after. Its body got preserved by all the chemicals in the air and it refuses to decay. It has been years.

Whenever doing chemistry, they do so in their dorm's bathtub. They got an airlock installed to keep the noxious fumes from going anywhere but out of the window. He is multiple million yen in debt due to this.

While in the Port Mafia, Kajii taught him how to do chemistry, as a result they adopted it as a hobby, and also view Motojirou as an uncle figure. The latter is something he would never admit though.

In addition to struggling with understanding their emotions, they tend to ignore any romantic feelings they develop once they come to that realization. He does this hoping that those feelings will go away.
