Two years ago a Mariners fan congratulated me on the Rangers World Series, despite it leaving Seattle as the lone team without the trophy. Told him I thought the Mariners had it in them to do it soon. Now we're watching them go into the #ALCS! #ALDS

Fun little thing if you go to Google Earth and the time-lapse feature.

You can watch the Crater Glacier start pushing through the amphitheater breach, beginning in 2004.

2004 — Satellite view of Mount St. Helens showing the reformed Crater Glacier beginning to encircle the new lava dome within the crater. The glacier’s ice appears bright against the fresh volcanic deposits radiating outward from the 1980 breach. Google Earth.

2005 — Crater Glacier continues to thicken and advance northward around the actively growing lava dome. Flow lobes begin to merge near the base of the breach, showing early signs of downslope movement. Google Earth.

2006 — The glacier’s twin lobes press together at the dome’s north margin, pushing ridges of rock and ice outward. Google Earth.
