Right, a new episode is now live: we discuss this week's announcement of the Beatles biopics cast.

🍏OK OK, so they don't look like them. But they're all excellent actors. We look at their previous performances for clues to what they'll bring to it.
🍏Four films in a month: mad in a good way?

Yeah, we weren't big fans of either film.

The weird thing is there are things in here that make you realise these films are sincere passion projects. He really loves the Beatles I think. The execution is so off though.

Sick and tired of hearing things from uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics? Fair enough, but give two more of us a go. open.spotify.com/episode/17Wa...

Now live: we discuss the documentary Borrowed Time: Lennon's Last Decade, released this year.

👓Its use of AI animation: does it work and does it suggest a coming trend in indie documentaries?
👓What sort of view of John is likely to result from such an overwhelmingly male collection of contributors?

Episode 3 on Monday is on Borrowed Time: Lennon's Last Decade, which came out earlier this year. Lots to discuss! It's currently available on Prime Video without paying extra.

Now live, our episode on Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

🍏What does the scene in which Dewey meets the Beatles in Rishikesh tell us about popular views of their personalities?
🍏Is it a laugh?
🍏What are the common hack tropes of the music biopic and has Sam Mendes seen this film? We hope so.

Monday! We'll be talking Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, and THAT Rishikesh scene. It's a surprisingly long episode considering the Beatles are in the film for about three minutes. But plenty of things to discuss about music biopics and their common tropes.

You can watch the scene here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2g_x... Presumably Dickinson, Mescal, Quinn and Keoghan have been studying it intently.

Harris Dickinson on BBC Front Row with @samiraahmeduk.bsky.social: they're still rehearsing, they start shooting in November, and yes he's finalised John's accent and no you can't hear it. I remain hugely reassured by the track record and approach of all four actors.

Season 7 is officially GO.

First things first: George Harrison and John Lennon went on David Frost's show in 1967 to talk about their newfound practice of transcendental meditation, then came back next week and debated it with academics.

I can picture George's exact facial expression after he says this in Anthology
