But even OP characters are sometimes not worth fitting in when you're already 100 hours in and just combined your three teams into one. If they're so OP they just replace my faves, that just feels cheap.

Maybe late characters need weird gimmicks to set them apart, not "better" but worth trying out

It never makes me feel good to get a cool story character near the end and never use them because I like my team already! And even in the games that have open structures, no way am I grinding that late in.

Radiant Dawn does the best job with it, where most of the late-game characters are OP, but...

As a Fire Emblem megafan, this has always been a gigantic issue in nearly every game, even the ones with open nonlinear maps, and I have spent a dumb amount of time trying to figure out what Intelligent Systems can/should do to solve it in future games...

MGM's allegedly finally going to be releasing a larger slate of movies over the next few years, and I wonder if they will run into the exact same issue plaguing Lionsgate, Sony, and A24 as they keep failing with mid-budget films. But multiplexes really need these programmers, so IDK the solution...

I just rediscovered an old Twine chooseable path adventure game I wrote in 2017-- "I Miss You: The Incredible Quest to Go Home for the Weekend and Get Some Sleep," where you try to leave work and return to the suburbs, but are stopped at every turn. It's clunky and silly but I am nostalgic for it
