Yeah good call, I like some bits but I don't think it hangs together. Almost want it to be like twice as long. Need to listen more though
What do we think about 'Berghain'?? On paper it is a shocking intersection of my interests but I'm not sure I love the track
Annie Clark's music really hasn't dipped in quality over the past 20 years, every St Vincent album has absolute bangers
I suspect if I had stayed in the discipline I might have found a way to resolve that difference, but I'm grateful that ending up in cultural studies also allowed me to find academic work that engaged me politically and intellectually.
Been thinking about my linguistics degree and while I always loved the discipline, on reflection I think the stuff I found politically engaging (discourse analysis) didn't align with what I enjoyed intellectually (cognitive linguistics, e.g. first language acquisition, cognitive semantics).
When I was a linguistics undergrad and honours student Barb was an academic mentor to me, as I know she was to many, the first person to get me excited about scholarly research. What a cool thing from Lauren and everyone involved. Can't wait to read these papers.

Congratulations, El πŸ₯° Love to the whole family ❀️ xx
one of my all time faves!! electric from start to finish, an aspirational gay dinner party
Not scary as such, but when I was a little kid I found Mr Squiggle deeply upsetting because they didn't take Blackboard's concerns seriously (this pretty much sums up how I was as a child)

I've seen some egregious misrepresentation in my time, but how many mules would have to kick you in the head to draw the imputation cited from Saleh's post?
I haven't been in like 20 years but even then I was too tall for a few of the rides πŸ˜”
No better way to enjoy the sunshine than playing a video game set in a 16th century Bavarian monastery
Very nice weather we're having
Thank you!! Had got way too long
feeling cute / looking sad on the teams call
...there's something interesting here about the fact that process and outcome are fundamentally entwined, and genAI lays that bare. Makes me wonder how we need to re-think "teaching" in a workplace context.
This is super interesting, and something I've been thinking about a lot re: people management. It trips me up as someone who, at work, worries about micro-managing if I focus too much on other people's processes. I want to trust them to manage that, as long as they're reaching a good outcome. But...
Wild!!!! And the entirely predictable outcome of separating comprehension from writing
Given how ubiquitous it has already become I'm getting to the point where I'm like, look, if I genuinely can't tell you've used genAI then whatever. But unless someone has done significant rewriting then you can always tell!! More and more my job involves rewriting other people's AI slop
Like, is this a laziness problem or a comprehension/writing skills problem or both??
