Happy new year 🍀

Thanks to @biekebroux.bsky.social to celebrate the first paper acceptance of my PhD supervised by her, @kwouters.bsky.social and Tim Vanmierlo.

Now the ☕️ will taste even better.

My first paper is out ✨️
When I started my PhD I wasn't aware that the first 🐁 experiment I'll perform will make me super conscious about the effect ♀️♂️ has on any research model, especially in obesity research.
But now I found another topic I'm passionate about.

🙏 As always, this work was a group effort, nonetheless thoroughly led by @lisatschuetz.bsky.social. I would like to thank in particular @kwouters.bsky.social for our always nice and fruitful weekly discussions. Also thanks to all other co-authors!

🐭 Lisa's work in Biology of Sex Differences (@springernature.bsky.social) describes how high fat diet elicits different immune responses in ♂️ vs ♀️ mice, depending on the fat depot. Her study highlights the importance of including ♂️ and ♀️ in (pre)clinical studies to account for these differences.

My first post here on @bsky.app, now that most of my former X-peers have joined me here 😄

🎅 Santa brought a first first-author publication for @lisatschuetz.bsky.social and my first collaborative paper with @kwouters.bsky.social

If interested, the paper is freely available here: rdcu.be/d36Dx
