One of my first tweets as bike mayor was about how my bike is my mobility aid. Some old crank replied that I can’t be disabled if I ride a bike. Anyway, I achieved peak mobility aid today when I transported my electric wheelchair on my e-trike so I could *finally* enjoy Halifax’s Public Gardens.
The bucket of a black electric cargo trike with a folded up wheelchair inside of it. A sign attached to the front of the bucket advertises Kidical mass Halifax. A view from behind of a white woman riding a cargo trike in a protected bike lane approaching an intersection in a city. A black cargo trike with a rain cover on the bucket is locked up at a bike rack with a few other bikes. A foldable electric wheelchair is sitting in front of the trike. A view from behind of a white woman wearing a tank top and hat as she navigates a gravel pathway in a park while sitting in an electric wheelchair. It’s a sunny day and there’s a beautiful draping tree ahead to her left.

Love to hear about another cargo bike lending library and to see another Ibex in action!!

If you need to transport your stuffie by bike, a bungee is a great solution.
2 kids bikes parked next to each next to a concrete wall. The smaller bike is yellow and has training wheels. The somewhat larger bike is blue, has a Spider-Man helmet hanging from the handlebars and a light brown, well-loved stuffed cat attached to the stem via a green bungee.

I’ve been waiting for this one to come in at the library!

No frost here, either. But laundry goes outside no matter the season 😂

It’s honestly really frustrating behaviour to me, too. We all need to be working together to advocate for *options* for everyone, and to notice & amplify the ways people are being failed by these systems.
I don’t take transit so I learn so much from folks like you about how bad things have gotten.

I love my monkey light spoke lights so I feel like there are worth trying!
I also just got this from Lee Valley because I think I can use it to turn the bucket of my cargo trike into a glowing orb with the rain cover on it.

My stock is low but I’ll replenish when construction crews clear out for the season and inevitably leave a bunch behind.

Mine is just laminated (by @envirojen.bsky.social). Amazing how well it has held up!

Same. Definitely seems likely tonight.

I ride with a #KidicalMassHfx poster on my bike year round and I’ve gotten so many questions about it. I think of it as mobile advertising!

It was also in her October newsletter, which came out a couple of days ago and is a pdf on a website with no easy way to sign up to receive it automatically.

I’m assuming we have the same ones then. I didn’t *not* factor in the colour being labelled as “eggplant” when I chose it 😅

I got the pocket leggings! So cozy

@terriclarke.bsky.social influenced me (via instagram) and I ordered stuff from Simply Merino. Made in Canada and it’s soooo nice

Not quite that cold here this morning but my new, thick wool tights arrived yesterday and I was excited to have an excuse to wear them!

Not surprised to hear this from residents but my own councillor also said she’s against high rises?!
bikehfxlobby.bsky.social
Oh no! I hope they can get it sorted out for you quickly

I don’t know hot climates, but I do live in one of the coldest/snowiest large cities in the world.

Winter can be a challenge. But also, it’s just a fact of living here.

You learn to dress for the cold. The city is good at plowing.

Walkability in the winter is totally normal and unremarkable here.

This is the Nova Scotia Government's health care "fix." It's irresponsible, and demonstrates a complete disregard for Nova Scotians and their health.

Holy F. NS health is using an AI chat bot called Nova and their recent Facebook post encourages people to ASK THE AI CHAT BOT about their SYMPTOMS. This is absolutely wild. www.yourhealthns.ca #nspoli

Oh god, 2022. The house across the street that’s a mediocre mid-century place was listed at half a mill and went for 200k over asking 🙈

Remember a couple of weeks ago when it rained a bit and there were a bunch of crashes & folks kept saying it’s because people forgot how to drive in the rain?

Totally understand. Such a loss for us 😫
