So Singapore will benefit from ultra-cheap OZ renewables while Australians will continue to have to pay for expensive gas? I don't think I've felt as sold out by a Party since Howard was in power ... #SoldOutByALP
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
I don't listen to this 'factional' stuff inside the ALP/LNP duopoly Chris. I just compare ALP's prioritisation of expensive gas against that of the Opposition Greens/Teals/Indies/Left who are pushing for a rapid shift to ultra-cheap renewables (my solar exports at 1.5c/kWh - see below) #auspol
Price of solar exported into the grid
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
Thx to Vic Govt I got a loan to install a battery for my solar. However as power price & grid (supply) charges have spiked while feed-in-tariff slumped I'm now paying to export. So price signal from ALP is those with batteries should disconnect from grid as our solar is no longer wanted? /2 #auspol
Power bill showing supply charge & power costs versus feed-in-tariff credit
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
For 4 million+ solar panel owners grid charges have jumped, feed-in tariffs have plummeted, and power prices have risen (gas is expensive). We now have to pay to export our solar - I guess solar panel owners are just another 'cash-cow' that ALP uses to subside fossil-fuel industry? /1 #auspol

FYI most first-world countries (apart from US) have good public health systems but most don't allow their resources to be given away for free. Here's how a resource-rich country taxes resources - rather than taxing students like Australia - to fund public health care: #auspol #SoldOutByALP
Revenue vs taxes paid for Australia vs Norway HECS vs PRRT paid by gas industry

First you give away $212 Billion of gas to Woodside etc and now you give away all our critical minerals to the US. So the British colony that stripped sovereignty from First Nations after 1788 has become a US colony that strips sovereignty over Australians' resources in 2025? #SoldOutByALP

I'd like to give you a like for the content of your post Rex, but whenever I see a picture of that conman I immediately throw up ...

I'm guessing then for example that there won't be any reduction in the amount of antibiotics added to Tasmanian salmon through such a deal Rod?
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
It's the ALP/LNP duopoly coalition in action Richard! Rumour is they have one of those secret Libs/Nats agreements that bind them together, but keep the separate names for marketing purposes ...

This is what we need more of ie. Ockham's razor! It is now clear why ALP & LNP refuse to pass truth-in-politics legislation - having an Ockham's razor in politics would show their 'policy' is simply BS to cover up their capitulation to the fossil-fuel lobby #ClimateCriminals
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
Not just central Melb. Ian - in the suburbs where I live it is noticeable just how many people are sleeping rough, esp. since Covid lockdowns ended. Govt. feels no pressure to build affordable public housing or raise far-below-poverty-line Jobseeker, so answer to your question is probably 'yes' ...
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
I'm not sure if you realise Stranger but Chris Bowen is the energy minister in a Party that continues to expand fossil-fuels. Nuclear is a nonsense debate that let's not only the LNP but also the ALP distract us from the increasing climate disasters that all Australians are now paying for.
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
Ever thought about running as an independent candidate Michael? You have a pretty good following, and it would be a great way to bring these issues up with many more people. Maybe you could run against Albo and raise issues such as why he now hates public housing that could house the poor?
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
Well when we don't have truth-in-politics laws Michael I guess politicians can say whatever they want?
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
Yep - that's what getting sold out by your own government looks like Mark. You might also want to have a word with energy minister Chris Bowen: he told a climate forum here in Caulfield in Feb "that's not true" about Japan getting our gas for free. All just greenwashing now from ALP ... #auspol
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
I'm sure if you surveyed the median income of Australian 'aspirationals' you'd find things a lot rosier. To be fair, that's the only demographic that Albo's ALP ever listens to ...
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
It appears that it will only push up prices, but when you are young and desperate to leave renting behind (as I was a decade ago) schemes like this resonate. Unless you offer concrete alternatives that provide access to an affordable roof over your head then 'non-solutions' like this will hold sway.
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
This sounds corrupt - shouldn't the NACC be investigating?
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
You really think @albomp.bsky.social will take on vested interests David? Just ask fossil-fuel industry how likely it is "backroom boy" Albo will stop accepting donations even from an industry causing widespread harm to Australians. He might even have a gambling gig lined up post politics? #auspol
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
I have 10, 100 - no, maybe even 1000 reasons (a 'kiloreason') why this is a good idea. Now about that US spelling ...

Problem is Sally they were trying to deliver aid to starving Palestinians and not parts for Israeli F-35s ...
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
Some affordable public housing would be nice ...
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
If Optus stop making political donations then I think our government will take action Ian
bjbagginsinoz.bsky.social
So why don't you actually fight for them Albo instead of 'shouting meaningless slogans'? Housing is even more unaffordable, secure jobs are nowhere to be seen, and you push fossil-fuels even as climate disasters impact ever more Australian lives. #auspol #ClimateCriminals
