Ah, that one reached the UK!

Fair point, but the movies indicate it was a rich vein!

Late arrival: Conan Doyle
on the paranormal. 1992 edition of his 1930 book.

‘Daibutsu Kaikoku’ aka ‘The Great Buddha Arrival’ - a lost Japanese movie from 1934. Inspired by King Kong (1933), this benevolent twist has a giant Buddha striding around the country’s famous landmarks.

Cited as the first kaiju movie!

Desperately wish there were more!

Um, Police Squad barely had one series. Just six episodes!

In a busy week of deliveries, got this after learning that Thelma Todd had been murdered. Star of many early comedies, including Laurel and Hardy and The Marx Brothers, and three horror movies directed by Benjamin (Haxan) Christensen, including the wonderful Seven Footprints To Satan.

Old books on witchcraft still command silly prices. Is the interest academic or…?

Note that this 1979 copy had an unusual source!

Completed my trilogy of Peter Haining ‘unknown horrors’ from New English Library/Mews Books. Apparently rare.

Comedy plasticene caveman intro didn’t help.

Fireball 500 (1966) is nuts. Murder mystery, moonshine, feds, bloody fist fights, stock car crack ups… but with Frankie and Annette bursting into song! Definitely entertained.

With several songs and a blistering, start to finish Les Baxter score, I’m incredulous there wasn’t a soundtrack album!

Biggest surprise of this rewatch of Alien 3 (1992) was that a young Holt McCallany of Mindhunter was in it.

The first movie Diane Keaton directed was a wonderfully odd documentary about what people thought heaven would be like.

RIP, madam.

I, Claudius - Poison Is Queen (11th October 1976). Augustus' death scene is an extraordinary television moment.

In a bumper week, also completed my Ron Goulart Vampirella trilogy of UK paperbacks, after first buying one nearly fifty years ago.

In other unexciting old BBC news, here’s a Dixon of Dock Green tie-in I’ve also just received.

Got this because it’s called THE DEVIL’S CHURCHYARD which has my hopes up for PC Dixon teaming up with an exorcist to battle the forces of darkness on a tiny budget.

Picked this up out of curiosity, dangerous I know. TV tie-in for a short 1979 BBC thriller series, starring Bryan Marshall and Cyd Hayman.

The Mourning Brooch.
Anyone heard of it or know if it still exists?

Notice that the photo cover features a subtle, out of scale, cutout ‘falling body’.

Once stayed in an apartment in Hong Kong that overlooked the beach where the director and his wife were kidnapped from!

Completed my set of all four mid-seventies’ Don Glut Frankensteins, published in the UK by New English Library/Mews Books.
