Hey I'm Alex! I'm a college student studying game dev, and I like to talk about anime and manga on the internet
I like pretty much all kinds, but my favorite stories tend to me romance, and especially yuri

You should read How Do We Relationship? and Otherside Picnic
Curtis Sliwa is such a weird little guy, I think he should be kept in a terrarium as a mascot for New York
Especially because—not to toot my own horn—game development is really fucking cool! It's a giant clockwork-like process involving a whole bunch of different disciplines coming together to create something that is more than the sum of its parts by a long shot
It's seriously kinda insane how little gamers as a demographic know about or care to learn about the process by which the art they consume is made
The average gamer's understanding of game development is on the level of early scientists believing bloodletting was effective, except there's a modern hospital down the street they could go to instead
Nope
Still opens edge(not my default browser) half the time regardless if I actually have the problem I'm searching for installed
I only use it for school though so I'm sure you can make it somewhat better
The wind my have absolutely destroyed my hair today, but the food truck guy complimented me on how fluffy it is while we bantered about my usual order, so I suppose it evens out
"The Villainess Within: Avenging the Reincarnated Girl by Exposing the Heroine’s Lies" I've been reading it in my down time all day, it's very good
You kinda just got a read it to see what I mean though
Like, a casual read probably isn't picking up on how gay it is, but an avid Yuri fan 100% will
This a long with reading emi's memories makes remilia(the villainess) fall in love with emi as time goes on, and when the villainess thing happens anyways because the 'protag' is a bitch, Emi loses consciousness and remilia dedicates her life to revenge/getting Emi to wake up again
So in this story the villainess's body gets taken over at a young age by the girl who reincarnated, but she maintains consciousness. She then watches the reincarnated girl(Emi) do her best to make the villainess's life happy because she loved her after playing the game
It's so fucking funny too the manga will zoom on on a hyper detailed panel of her face looking all sinister going "it's all going according to plan! Soon I will make the world safe for you to return, Emi!" And her plan is to defeat racism and foster trade relations to benefit an ethnic minority
It's like, hilariously gay in a way only someone who's studied theory(that one interview with Iori Miyazawa) can grasp, and it fucking rules
I learned about a villainess manga where a girl watches the girl who took over her body get screwed over by a bunch of straight men and a mean girl, so she vows to enact the perfect revenge now that she has the body back(by which she means fix all of the world's societal and environmental issues)
See, I just thought the fight encouraged a boring and overly cautious playstyle
In theory it's fun to have a boss where there's no floor and you have to rely on platforming the boss itself, but in practice the fight amounted to sticking to a wall and pogoing
That said, the best starter game is the one you want to make(mine was a pokemon clone) and while finishing is very important, don't force yourself to finish if you get to a wall you can't get past yet. Sometimes it's better to put it on hold and come back to try again
I mean that's kinda why I think flappy bird isn't a very good beginner game to make, actually
It's a very simple game, but it's very finicky so any sort of sauce you try to add on to it is going to be made harder by having to avoid upsetting the delicate balance
I am not actually sure I agree that flappy bird is necessarily a good beginner game, but I do think that trying to make something harder than you think you can manage is maybe the best way to learn game development
Only one I strongly disagree with is nyleth
I absolutely hated that fight
Yeah, I'm already a hater when it comes to time skips in general(I feel they're often used to skip over and handwave character and plot developments) so I was already primed not to like the decision, but like you said the format makes it an even weirder move
The latest chapter elicited the solitary response of "why is this still going" from me
Like with this new one, people decided that the entire map was made up of a single 3D mesh and that that was bad. This is despite the fact that a) it's factually not as you can actually see the map load in new chunks on some spots
And b) even if it was that's not that weird for a map this size
The problem is generally that a lot of people have built up a resentment and launch into criticism regardless of what the game is actually like
To be clear every single switch Pokemon game has had glaring flaws, some feeling quite unfinished, but the criticisms often become conspiratorial
Crazy that demon slayer: infinity castle is the first movie to ever use both hand drawn and 3D animation
I'm really good at pretending I don't hate how I look most of the time and that I don't think I generally suck
And yet somehow I've never internalized it
