it's fascinating how digimon is filled with so much weird localization that's carried through its lifetime but this. this guy. he got the mandate from on high and got a name change despite being so ingrained in the anime. this is the exception.

unsurprisingly, you cannot name your digimon Volcanusmon. this means you cannot take your Volcanusmon, change its name, and then change it back to normal.

Doing nickname stuff in Time Stranger and I wanted to remember who my Shoutmon was which lead to me discover that every variation on "Shout/Shot" is a banned word, including "Shoutmon" itself. So the little guy got the Confagrigus treatment.

tbh when I leave a zone where I know the digimon won't show up there for another 20 hours I just convert them even if not at cap. better to have the fodder sooner and let them into the infinite digivolve samsara now.
