Daughter just turned 14 and her birthday party with 9 other teens was 10 hours long at the house today. Danielle and I got a couple games of Creature Comforts by @kidstablebg.bsky.social in among the chaos. Gonna chat about it when we record on Monday night.

It has been 20 years since I’ve seen it though. Maybe it’s time for a rewatch.

This is a take I can’t get behind. Resurrection was so far off the rest of the series in tone and style. I’m a fan of Jeunet generally but wish almost anyone else had directed this film. Glad you enjoyed it though!

Didn't get a game night this week.

Great episode! I was a huge FF fanatic from 7-12 (and all the Tactics) and the discussion brought back lots of feelings!

Yo, content creators. If you're ever looking for b-roll for classics, hit me up. I certainly don't have every game, but I have a library of footage I've taken from hundreds of games "just in case". Happy to share with attribution. Helpful for top 10s or genre focussed vids.

The correct number is always one 😀

Do you think it should be open information how many times a board game has been played at the time of being reviewed?

We chatted a little about The Game Makers on our upcoming episode, and I completely forgot to shout out this in depth discussion from recent guest Tim and friends.

In today's episode we cover The Game Makers by @beziergames.bsky.social which is up on crowdfunding for a few more days.

We also talk about some other games we've been playing including Age of Comics, Arborea, and Pagan: Fate of Roanoke.

Hang in there, Bez. I’ve also been struggling lately but it always gets better. It will for you and it will for me.

@boardgamehottakes.bsky.social Very much enjoying March of the Ants. My favorite from 2025 so far (and better than anything from 2024 👀)
boardgamehottakes.bsky.social
That’s funny. I adore the theme (even if it’s presented in a very abstract way).
boardgamehottakes.bsky.social
Not really anything alike other than the theme. Well it does have resource collection, worker placement, and minor tableau building but it feels very different.

It was although my birthday isn’t until the 13th. Opened it early for a couple plays with people I thought might like it. They did.
boardgamehottakes.bsky.social
I have played Mille Fiori. It’s great!
boardgamehottakes.bsky.social
Prepping for winter in Creature Comforts. I like worker placement where the spaces change through the course of the games. CC adds an extra wrinkle by making you gamble on whether you’ll get the dice to activate the spaces.

Too much downtime with 4 players but I enjoy it otherwise.

Lost Cities is good but it’s no Rebirth.
boardgamehottakes.bsky.social
Ireland board, of course. If you’ve only played Scotland then your opinion on Rebirth doesn’t count.
boardgamehottakes.bsky.social
So you have to play tactically but it also feels like you have a chance at setting yourself up for a big play.
boardgamehottakes.bsky.social
Fun. 😃

Honestly I think it’s the lack of choices. In Samurai, for example, I will never place a tile that leaves 1 space open because it’s too likely someone will get the placement bonus. With only 1 tile in Rebirth you have a chance it gets back to you to finish what you started.

Admittedly, I have not played Babylonia but would really like to. So far, Rebirth is my favorite Knizia game but there are plenty I haven’t gotten to try. Babylonia sounds great,
