Manifesto is part memoir, part call to arms – a reminder that there’s power in staying true to your vision even when the path isn’t smooth. It’s an energising, affirming read that lingers long after the final page.

October’s book surprise has arrived! (Well, I opened it on 1st October, but forgot to post this!)

This month’s book is The Housemaid by Freida McFadden, a title that’s been on my “to-buy” list for a while.

I absolutely loved Picture Imperfect.

It felt so nostalgic to revisit characters from The Illustrated Mum, a book from my childhood, and to see where life has taken them.

Jacqueline Wilson captures that feeling of familiarity and emotional depth so well.

This has been on my TBR pile for ages, but I finally got around to reading it… and I absolutely loved it!

The twists felt fresh, and I loved how the story kept me guessing right until the end. Definitely a thriller I’ll be recommending.

I absolutely loved Raising Hare! Chloe Dalton’s memoir about rescuing and raising a wild leveret in the English countryside is utterly captivating.

If you love nature writing with heart and soul, this one’s a real treat.

A finalist of the @womensprize.bsky.social for Non-Fiction

While not typically my go-to genre, I found this book unexpectedly moving.

If you’re in the mood for a story about resilience, community, and the power of friendship, this book is for you.

My freelance week looked a bit different this week!

Usually I’m tucked away at my desk, but instead I got to:

📚 Head to the Business Book Awards, where a book I worked on was shortlisted

🍰 Celebrate someone’s birthday with afternoon tea at The Ivy with some of the lovely people I work with
Over 250 for me! And all in here so I can pick them out at random - too many have been on my shelf unread for years!
It was my first time reading one of her books, introduced to my by a friend!
I read this in anticipation of the new adult sequel, Picture Imperfect – and it instantly took me back to childhood.

It still has that trademark Wilson warmth – messy families, fierce loyalty and kids finding strength in difficult circumstances. A bittersweet, powerful read.

Set on the Dorset coast between the World Wars, The Whalebone Theatre is a story of resilience, reinvention, and the quiet power of creativity in turbulent times.

The Whalebone Theatre is rich in atmosphere and character – a perfect read if you enjoy historical fiction!

A powerful little novel about courage, community, and quiet resistance. Set in a small coastal town in 1959, The Bookshop follows Florence Green’s brave attempt to open a bookshop against the odds – and the subtle but brutal pushback she faces from those around her.

September’s story has arrived… 🍁📚

There’s something magical about receiving a book you haven’t chosen yourself – a little nudge to explore something new. Excited to see where this month’s surprise from my sister’s hamper will take me!

Last night, I got to see my favourite childhood author, Jacqueline Wilson, talk about her second novel for adults, a sequel to The Illustrated Mum.

The child in me is so happy… her books shaped my love of reading and inspired my journey into publishing. ✨

I had the pleasure of meeting one of my author clients at the iconic British Library today.

There’s something magical about discussing books and publishing surrounded by so much literary history.

Of course, I had to have a quick look round the shop too!

August’s surprise read is here! 📚🎁

Every month I unwrap a mystery book from the beautiful book hamper my sister made me for Christmas — and this one’s a whopper!

It looks like a fun ride though, so I’m excited to get stuck in.

Have you read it? Thoughts?

A few days late, but I’ve just opened my July book from the amazing book hamper my sister made me for Christmas — one surprise book to unwrap each month for a whole year 📚🎁

Though I'm very behind with reading and reviews at the moment!

I have over 250 unread books at home but before I leave the island, I couldn’t resist treating myself to a book full of short horror stories set on the Isle of Wight.

Let’s hope they don’t make me too scared to come back!

Out of all the bookshops on the island, I think Babushka is my favourite! I love the choice of classics and vintage books.

If you’re visiting the island, make sure you pop in!

Medina Bookshop on the Isle of Wight has a great selection of books!

I popped in today and decided to treat myself to The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden, the Women's Prize for Fiction winner. Looking forward to diving in!

Sunshine, book… what more do you need?

I picked this up at the @womensprize.bsky.social last week. So far, so good!

Had the loveliest day at the @womensprize.bsky.social yesterday – my first time attending and definitely not my last!

A real highlight was seeing Kate Mosse interview the amazing Bernardine Evaristo – such wisdom, humour and inspiration in one conversation.

And we even saw Queen Camilla!

I love the main character, Jasper!
This book was absolutely brilliant – I found myself reading late into the night, unable to put it down. The mystery is gripping, with a haunting atmosphere and richly drawn characters.
