Oooh. A rabbit hole! I’ll check that out tomorrow over a coffee or two.

Okay, tried out the method that @luigithirty.bsky.social suggested, in C to start off with, and it works a treat. Next step is to convert this to Z80. I'm pretty sure that this'll simplify the circle drawing somewhat. Devil in the detail, etc.

Same here. It’s brilliant! Going to see how that translates to Z80 tomorrow.

Having lugged a 32” up a tight flight of stairs, I feel your pain.

This is why I love social media. I have just learned of a technique to improve my circle code. I thought Bresenham’s algorithm required 8-way symmetry. Turns out there’s a straightforward way to reduce that to 4.

I’m a huge fan of CRTs, having been brought up with them. I’m also a fan of huge CRTs (though my back isn’t), and feel good stories. This video has it all.

You are a legend of the highest order and will get a mention on my Git for this project. I think it’ll simplify my code a lot.

It’s on the Spectrum Next so fills every pixel. Uses Layer 2. And the DMA for extra oomph.

That may help me a lot. All the examples I've seen up until now use 8-way symmetry. I think I see what they did there. Will experiment later. Thanks!!

My main goal (as ever) is to try and keep the code as readable as possible, as well as being elegant, fast, small, etc. I think this is a happy compromise for the time being.

Anyhow, it fixes most of the clipping issues. Just one minor bug to fix when the circle is completely off-screen. I'm going to grab a glass of wine and do some single-step debugging to fix that.

Been putting this off for a few days as I couldn't see an obvious way to make this elegant, fast and small. The problem is the 8-way symmetry. Don't really want to write 8 similar plot routines. It's begging for reusable subroutines. I've come up with a solution that I'm more or less happy with.

They are so far detached from society too. That can't be good for their mental health. After all, for the most part, humans are a social species. I'd have considered buying a Tesla until I realised Musk was creating more problems than he was solving, putting it mildly.

Wasn’t really into clubbing tbh.

Hitman and Her! Blimey, that takes me back. Went to a club once where they were filming that. Someone had organised a coach. It was nowhere near as exciting as it looked on TV. Coach broke down on way back. Ended up walking a mile back home in the early hours.

A cracking computer with an excellent BASIC interpreter, up there with BBC BASIC. Got a boxed one in my bedroom, along with a PCW.

I'm currently on my third office chair in 5 years. The first kept sinking slowly, broken shock absorber thingy. The second lasted only a year, the weld holding the back on snapped. On my third now, a second-hand Ikea one which seems to be a bit more robust.
