October is cybersecurity awareness month. Take advantage of the opportunity to do some thoughtful cybersecurity education for your team. Make it a regular part of your culture. A couple of minutes a week can be a lot more effective than the annual "Power nap in the conference room". #BeCyberSmart

The number of lawsuits DHS is going to be facing from their heavy-handed tactics has got to be staggering. 🤦‍♂️

Yeah, I mean obviously they could have gone for a less-obvious design and I could see this kind of tech being incorporated into a watch rather than a pendant.

But for marketing purposes I can see why they might have opted for the more obvious form factor.

Too often I see people who don't update their theories to reflect what actually works in practice. The theory should never be immutable, don't be afraid to change the theory as you learn more.
In theory…
Anything that works in practice can work in theory. When a theory tells us something that is working is impossible, we’ve either measured wrong or the theory needs updating. Theories exist to…

I love our robot vacuum. It's a low-effort way to make a noticeable difference in the cleanliness of our floors (especially with two small kids dropping Cheerios everywhere). We have a different brand, but I've heard such good things about these. amzn.to/48iz1cT

Virtually all of them are using it to some extent, even if they don't know it. Whether it's for document review, research, generating notes from a meeting, or even just helping to manage their calendar.

Used properly it's good. The problem is when it's not used properly.

From the Law Society of Saskatchewan's Generative AI Guidelines:

"A lawyer must review all generative AI outputs for accuracy, including, but not limited to, any legal analysis & citations to authority, & correct any errors or misleading arguments before submission to the tribunal."

What I'm hearing is more about slowing hiring rather than AI-driven layoffs. Employers who think they can get more productivity out of existing staff, whereas in the past they'd have brought on more staff.

#Cybersecurity tip #5: It doesn't matter how complex your password is if you leave it in plain sight...use a password manager. #BeCyberSmart

This is generally good advice but I have a couple of nitpicks:

1. Most mesh systems will also let you set up at least 1 guest network.
2. Most traditional routers have those add'l controls too.

If you have to go mesh there are increasingly good options.
I compared a traditional Wi-Fi router with a mesh setup - here's which one I recommend

I like Satya a lot but...The billion daily users is a goal, not a solution. :-)

And as for context, the problem is the customer is looking at their device and wondering which Copilot to open. If they have the same name and similar logos it's confusing.

OK ZDNET, you're making it harder for me to share any of your articles because you're insisting on autoplaying video with sound on your articles...and I refuse to subject my followers to that.

Stop that.

Not really a big surprise, one of the big changes from COVID when Microsoft dispersed widely to a hybrid work model was that they gave up most of their leased real estate in the Puget Sound area and consolidated back onto the main Redmond campus.

The problem with this story is that it makes it sound like using AI is an offense. It's not. Lawyers use AI all the time and that's fine. The problem comes when they don't carefully review the materials they're filing before they file them.

The AI is there to work alongside you, not instead of you.
