Minimizing COVID-19 is maximizing social harm

One of the best articles I've read all year because it centers social justice and equity. Published today

It’s such a weird thing to get hung up about. Adverts are just there to try &sell you things you probably don’t need. Presumably they choose who to put in the ads based on who they think is most likely to get you to buy stuff. I actively ignore ads & am baffled by this nonsense.
This. I tried for the first couple of years to share information, until I just became the marginalised weirdo in the mask. To me it’s such a part of collective responsibility & caring for one another to try and prevent Covid spread- it boggles me that my progressive Green comrades dgaf
An autistic kid’s experience of education is being asked to do something impossible, failing at it, THEN being offered adjustments. Over & over again. With no thought of how demoralising & undermining it is to experience yourself failing again & again & again…☹️
Good. Now remove all his money.

England COVID-19 latest:
A significant and worrying concern are the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility criteria, which exclude many millions from receiving a free vaccine. £100 a shot is not equality - it's another shameful policy that hits the poor particularly badly.

I have one autistic kid who loves loves loves Halloween, and one who hates and avoids it. It’s a juggling act in my house. 🤣
Can confirm. My dad once got into trouble at work though- his supervisor (female) called him:

Her: Alright, love? Sorry- have to give you a warning- that inspector from London?- apparently you called her ‘love’ & she’s complained.

Him: Oh! Right, well you’ve warned me. Bye love!

Her: Bye love! 🤣
It’s weirding me out. Every time it’s like “And Zack Polanski’s fresh’n’exciting/super-weird (depending on the journo) policy is…” followed by something that’s been Green Party policy for at least a decade. 🙃
Agree. Also, Lupa ffp3 masks come in green & i recommend them. What I don’t recommend is this latest variant. It sucks. Wiped out my family for weeks. Do All The Things to try and avoid it.
Fantastic news. I hope they’re all ready to be active members though! No point in joining the Green Party if you’re not going to help win elections. There’s leaflets to deliver, doors to knock, conversations to have with your neighbours…

In amongst the noise & media whatabouttary, something significant happened this week.

The Mayor of London committed to fully implementing HEPA filtration in 200 London schools.

Proper filters, not desk items.

That it has taken so long to do so is a disgrace, but not on Sadiq Khan.

And if you’re wondering who Labour is listening to? “Reeves boasted she hatched plan to rip down our nature protections over a “smoked salmon & scrambled eggs breakfast” with corporate lobbyists”. People continue to call COVID advocates’ pleas for masking “unreasonable”.

Yet people who’ve already been disabled by COVID have no choice but to live with the “unreasonable” burdens of constant COVID safety.

My latest:

Beyond all reason
Long COVID patients are constantly harangued about our requests for COVID safety. Yet what we're asking for is far less than what we're called on to do to survive.

This is a fantastic article I encourage everyone to read.

The damaging effects of COVID on our immune system are not up for debate.

It’s not hypothetical.

And it’s not limited to “only the vulnerable”.

This is why many of us mask. Respirators like an N95 do a great job preventing covid.

On #BBCQT - Fiona Bruce said that the audience and public didn't want to press Reform UK on their dodgy links to Russia.

I disagree.

RT if you agree it's in the public interest for Reform to explain about their links to Russian money and bribery!

Interesting that India seems to accept that this is the reality. Meanwhile, on Plague Island, our press are all “immunity debt” “catch Covid to make your immune system stronger” and “scientists are baffled by the rise in every bloody disease &infection since 2020. Mysterious!” 🤨

Let me be clear. As someone who has been professionally involved with the biodefense / biosecurity sector for nearly 20 years, and has worked on biological risk analysis for Covid-19 since early 2020, reducing one's risk of being infected is not health anxiety. It's just smart.
