This week’s cake is a blackberry, apple and blackcurrant crumble-pie! #baking #CakeContent #FridayYay
A thick slice of cherry-coloured fruit pie with crumble on top on a flowery plate with the large pie it came from, plus a tagine and vase, in the background.

I got the best one! 🎉 🎉 🎉 Such an interesting area of policy actualisation. More details to follow. Plus, I can still Elf as it's p-t.

I've now been contacted about 2 actual content design and strategy roles. 😅 Must have been some magic dust from my Elf application!

(Either that or posting links to my portfolio, past clients and blog posts on projects I've worked on to LinkedIn today. I'd like to think the former though.)

I keep getting rejected for tv and film extras casting calls... maybe I need to try radio.

Video has in fact not killed the radiostar.

Love this analogy! 👏

Podcasting is just rush hour talk radio for Millennials.

They ended up asking me if I've done a managerial role, and yes, I was able to give a few examples – understated of course. 😂🧚🎄

Just interviewed for the position of Christmas Elf and front of house staff at an English Heritage property near me. Successfully downplayed my qualifications, mentioned drama GCSE and teaching assistant experience, and waved hand vaguely at 20 year web design career.

this one did me in: 15 years ago in the The Strand
Two young men, one wearing a sleeping bag, playing chess on the pavement: Strand, London. A third man is watching intently.

I enjoyed watching this documentary a couple of decades ago... chess really seemed to make a difference to the young people featured's whole outlook. Some of them were in the audience at the IFI, we turned and looked at them like they were celebrities which added to their pride, a joy to see!

The only reason for global warming at this point is to fatten the wallets of a small but powerful group of people who would rather kill the planet than be less wealthy.

I very rarely have direct contact on newsroom projects anymore, but this is cool because I did work with folks to help with the original collection protocol to make sure this information was handled and stored privately and wouldn't leave us with a re-identifiable dataset.

GDS has given a wealth of support for digital design through its Design System, Writing guidelines, GOV Pay, GOV Notify etc.

But the money and (very) high up support for end to end UCD was an integral part of roll out. Organisations and design teams that don't recognise that are in for a hard time.

I do agree tho that many designers start from an idealistic "clean slate" point rather than pragmatically understanding real world constraints like archaic tech and long IT contracts.

GDS employed legal experts during transition to break some contracts, localgov isn't likely to have that resource.

Also overeggs things a bit – no one is saying a whole website is a service!

He's a Product Leader with a book out on product management; the article is not as objective as it could be, lacking awareness of SD, or the insight that done well it improves systems for backend users as well as citizens.
