I'm just here for soccer Portland/Salt Lake ⚽

Do you specifically mean penalties, or the run of play? San Diego obviously could've / should've won, but it never felt like Portland was out completely of it
Reminder that if we weren't paying 4 DPs, we'd be around NYRB, LAFC area. Still not great, but it feels like a pretty important asterisk. Take out Carballo who played 120 minutes total and we're even more average
Not even Olatunji? I thought he's looked pretty good. Cruz has just been bad next to him when they play 4-2-2-2, and there was no chemistry between the two
Point taken. I think there's room for more improvement than you're giving them credit for, but I also acknowledge I'm viewing it with timbers colored glasses. Da Costa and Velde are Gass Theorem candidates, there's room for another DP, and Kelsy could take a step up with better support
Academy is TBD. It does seem to me we're getting slightly smarter at utilizing MLS experience depth pieces though. Kamal Miller, both GKs, Omir, Lassiter, Carballo, Rojas, Kelsy; all guys recently brought in with MLS experience. Haven't all hit, but the idea is there
Hurtful comparison, but fair.

The roster feels like better than 8th place to me with a coach that actually gives players instructions. I think Fory has been great this year when healthy. Da Costa has shown moments but dropped off, and Kelsy doesn't get service needed to have a chance at consistency
Curious your thoughts on Portland's roster in a vacuum, and in a similar vein if you think Portland's issues are on Phil Neville or something else?
You can go ahead and skip Portland in the Western Conference edition, we already know we're going out on Wednesday
Kelsy is over performing his xG by 1.1 while Mora is under performing his xG by 2.9 on the season
If only there was some technology that monitored the goal line
Kinda relieved to hear that. I keep seeing people online & at games saying they like what they see and I don't get it. I do love Olatunji though (partially just because he's unique and fun, but not like a DP level player)
100% agree on RSL in the 442. I also think Rwan Cruz has looked pretty bad on the eye test, so I don't really understand why they don't go back to Luna as the 10 (especially once Gozo is back to play out wide)
Doesn't seem like Curtin is willing to take a job right now, especially one fully across the country
How warm is Phil Neville's seat (or, how warm should it be)? He has often promoted himself as a mentality first manager, and the players don't look mentally (or tactically) engaged

Not seeing anything new on Spotify?
It hurts because he looked so good partnered with Ayala. Makes me wonder if we go after a different DP #8, assuming we go after another DP in the winter
Luna and Arfsten just had a great combination literally around Pulisic (who has been invisible today) but sure, it's the MLS guys who are all terrible
Can't believe he shot from outside the box. Doesn't he know he should recycle it to generate a better xG chance
Amazing how quickly the Polo news made that tackle go from atrocious to hero level
In general, agreed. But the timbers truly do need someone to make games more unpredictable in attack
