The Matriarch may look like a harmless older woman, but behind that pretty smile is the deadly leader of the assassins guild known as the Unkind. Each feather carved into her back represents a person she's killed prior to taking up the role of guild leader, and she has killed many more sense then. The 6-eyed ravens she uses as familiars are actually a small breed of monster that were initially bred by her predecessor, whom she killed in order to claim the role as leader. Their telepathic abilities, although limited in scope, make them convenient messenger birds as they are able to relay short messages, allowing the Matriarch to give orders and receive updates from her subordinates out in the field.
