It's been a chill summer, but it's time for the second update for black screen, bringing enemies, special upgrades, trades, a messaging system, the konami code, and more!

Decided to see what it would take to get a pc port running, and after maybe 45 minutes of work and commenting out a bunch of Dreamcast specific code, it boots!

Nothing too crazy to be reimplemented, so hopefully there should be no issues getting it on Steam for when I wanted to.
I love raylib 💞

The vibes playing Deus Ex on Windows XP with the CRT go insane.
Sucked me into the world so hard.

I've talked about it as one of my goals from this project, but I really do feel like so much better of a programmer from having worked on this.

I started doing setup for a future project tonight, and that code feels solid as a rock, not to mention that it took no time!

Make games for old consoles.

Dream Disc '24, the free game jam disc for the #dreamcast, is now available for pre-order on our store! You only need to pay shipping.

The discs should arrive this month, so if you pick up any other games we'll wait and then ship everything at once :)

Not for myself, but it would be a nice skill to have.
And while I get where you're coming from, I just don't think that's a good use of my time in the current mobile landscape.

Yeah at the time it was so much easier to find Java resources than Kotlin.

As for framework over native: easier cross platform support, and just easier to use a framework to make things look nicer.
captkuso.bsky.social
Yeah I did a little with Java last year and it was kinda miserable.
Just wanted to make a little Japanese baseball scores app for myself to learn really, so after watching all their propaganda I’m leaning towards Flutter, seems more close to the way I like to work.

Flutter:
.Weird, not actually native ui stuff
.I will never use Dart outside of this

React Native:
.I’m bad at JavaScript (though this would be good practice)
.Facebook 🤮 (but on the other hand, Google)
.As soon as you go on the website it’s like “actually no, you want a framework on top of this”??

What’s the least bad option for mobile development these days?

I’ve never done that much outside of game engines, but both Flutter and React Native look terrible in their own, very different ways?

Huh, went to order a usb hub and Anker is advertising it as being compatible with Windows 12.

Thank you! 🙏
Hoping that I can release it around the end of November!

8: Fable: Anniversary

The new quest card/hero your health is low alerts made me laugh every time.

I felt like there was an OG Xbox clunkiness that put me off messing around and roleplaying as much as I remember doing in 2, but maybe I'll revisit that soon for comparison.

Oh damn at all? I knew there was a trick to doing it for the later versions of 10, assumed that tiny11 would have that by default 😭
captkuso.bsky.social
I daily Pop_OS now, but still have an old Windows 10 laptop for certain things.
Unsure what to do about that when the time comes really, I might try tiny11 to at least avoid all of the bloat and ads?

Unfair Flips was designed in a lab specifically to make me mad that I didn't come up with it.

Firefox adding extensions to their android app has been a godsend honestly

Great article! I hadn't realised they covered homebrew, so it was really nice to read through.

OH! I just saw the big mouse, I was referring to the super low profile one lol.

But indeed that stand was a brilliant use of like 300 yen 5 years ago.
