These devices detonate upon contact, causing instant death or severe injuries.

Dear President Obama,
I saw in your statement you said "Israeli families" & "the people of Gaza."
Palestinians have families, too.
This kind of language contributes to dehumanization. Dehumanization is part of what caused so many to stay silent as 20,000 children were killed in this genocide.
I've sat with wonderful Palestinian families from Gaza. They look at their children just like we look at ours - with all the love & hope in the world.

As a American English speaker, and "native" (born and raised) I too am confused. Two of my favorite analogies are 1.) "English is not a language, it's three languages wearing a trench coat pretending to be one." - Gugulethu Mhlungu 2.) "English beats up other languages in dark alleys, then rifles through their pockets for loose grammar and spare vocabulary." - pilgrimkitty (I think).

A large swath of the activists know that Trump is attempting to manufacture a conflict that allows invoking the Insurrection Act.

Getting Democratic Party elected officials and media people to explicitly state this helps courts to deal with this reality.
