Leaders throughout the school, and the wider education system, can support teachers by creating the conditions for creativity to flourish, because the imaginative and creative individuals of tomorrow - are needed today. 🧠

However, inviting children to be questioning and curious helps them to think more deeply, critically and learn better in the long run. Inviting staff to challenge their assumptions and engage in enquiry learning helps them to support children to become more inquisitive.

🔎 Being inquisitive is important for everyone in the learning environment, leaders, teachers and learners alike, but it's a skill that's often inadvertently stifled when there's concern about taking risks or a tick-box culture...

I feel it often comes when we are intentional & purposeful in seeking out places where it can occur. Last year, we adjusted some module tasks in our literacy curriculum to incorporate art & STEM, allowing for a more creative range of final products. #EduSky
We often hear, “I’m not creative, I teach history.”
But creativity isn’t subject-specific. It’s thinking in new ways, seeing patterns, and exploring possibilities.

💬 Where have you seen creativity shine in unexpected parts of your curriculum?

We're having a fantastic day in Manchester at one of our roundtable events, making (and building on) connections, and having important, exciting discussions! 🐝
When every student is expected to fly the same way, creativity stays static and grounded.
We're here to support school leaders in integrating creative thinking into education, helping every child soar to new heights, in school and beyond. ✨🧠🎨

How do you encourage creativity to take flight?

#EduSky
Environment shapes behavior.
A classroom that encourages creativity often looks different:
Writable walls. Flexible spaces. Materials to build, sketch, or dream.

💬 What does a creativity-friendly classroom look like to you? Share a photo of your favourite creative space in your classroom!

Our current mission is for creativity to be part of every learning organisation and every system so that every learner, teacher, and leader can thrive, because creative and confident children and young people are the key to changing the world for the better.

This outcome is a testament to Cragside’s confident, relational, reflective, and outward-looking creative leadership. We’ve learned a huge amount from working with them, and we’re intrigued to see where their journey leads next!
Grateful @cceengland.bsky.social to be in our fourth year of walking alongside the brilliant team at Cragside Primary School.

"Pupils thrive in this nurturing and aspirational school."

This opening line from their latest Ofsted report says it all.
Want to be the catalyst for change in your school, but don't know where to begin? It starts with small changes. This week, challenge students to solve a problem without using the obvious tools. Think cardboard instead of computers. Doodles instead of diagrams. Be the change. 💡

🌅 Monday evening plans?

This month, we’re exploring one of the least talked-about creative sub-habits: intuition.

That gut feeling we ignore at our peril.

With @artscouncilengland.bsky.social funding we are using this framework to understand how Speech Bubbles supports children's creative development.
The Creative Habits framework is the way we at Creativity, Culture and Education define and set a shared vocabulary for creativity.

This is not the only definition of creativity but it's a starting point for educators and settings around the world to embed creativity in educational settings.
